the Sealey AK4124 tool looks like a cheap option - I did not want to over fill the cells -- but I suppose that is better than not enough water

Thanks for the comments ,it is awkward / near impossible to get your eye in line with the cell and a danger of splashing -- the plastic bottles look like a good idea

Can anyone tell me a quick way to check battery water level with batteries in an engine bay - without the need to disconnect them -- is there a mirror / light method -or dipstick type thing I suppose you could use a piece of folded cardboard - but you would need one for each cell ?
