  3. Well I this is really odd!!! cos I can send posts on here... but on the my OP I started 're the Freeview' probs I have tried to add to.... it wont let me post!!!!!!! all I get is that 'error' come up.. so dont know why this post wont go in???????
  4. Yes... that's why I thought strange .. so signed out then signed in again.... tried to post and got that quoted msg come up!!! So now I see this answer I just sent DID POST... so will try again and see if my reply gets posted.... thks
  5. For some reason I cant reply to posts in the forum!!! Keep getting msg Quote..... You don't have permission to access /forums/index.php on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. Unquote...
  6. Good point... was wondering if this 4G is rolling out, which I suppose will be super duper for the mobile broadband users, but as in pass press debates will this affect the 'Freeview service'? Will anyone care enough to sort it if it does/has?
  7. Well reading and following the various responses regarding this 'Freeview' prob I started, it seems we are all suffering from this Digital reception, whether some of us are using normal types of aerials or sat dishes. I have just been watching BBC1 and the signal strength is 72% and good reception... but tonight around 7pm the signal drops off, and starts to pixelate so you cant watch it. I think one member said they felt it seemed like a POWER DROP,which I agree with. Other channels are fine its only with BBC that are affected, so its NOT the aerial at fault is it? I have checked the site for our transmitter, which says no problems or engineering work being carried out... so then went on to fill in the form on-line to the BBC detailing 'my reception problems' .... whether they will reply back, dunno.. but if I do get anything back will post back on here (the transmitter for me is the Sutton Coldfield mast).
  8. Frustrating or what? Wonder if the power transmission has dropped off? In the past the BBC was always a much better signal than say ITV or any of the others... As one of the earlier members said... what do we do now the nights are again drawing in and we settle down to watch a bit of telly to find out NO CHANCE
  9. Well TASLIM that just about sums it up... if you can see the mast and still get a crap signal on the BBC channels there must be something going on eh? Found out tonight its not only the BBC channels but ITV as well!!! We all used to blame the weather for bad reception in past years didnt we, rain, sun spots, you name it.... but now ?
  10. The aerial we have is a Gazelle UHF and VHF and picks (or did) a brill signal it has a booster as well, but am beginning to think with this digital picture signal etc waste of space.... just tried to watch a programme and missed most of it as breaking up and couldnt see or hear what was going on Not much point is there chaps... oh well.... spose better stock up on vids
  11. Hi Casp.... exactly what I have said.... so if you are in Shropshire... and I am in Staffordshire and we are both getting the same results.... I agree that rain getting into the aerial connections can kill the signal... but dont think that is the problem... BBc 1,2 terrible... Maybe this 4g broadband has already rolled out.... cos they said it would interfere with freeview signals once it began? I feel angry if we have to go out and buy a Sat aerial just cos 'they' have screwed up our normal signals
  12. Yup agree with you there digital is crap I suppose that when one minute you have a 'great signal' and you are really into a program and then it says NO SIGNAL grrrrr. Had no probs at all with the box, until now... so they must have done something... and to Bizzard... we have retuned over and over and over... fine for 5 mins then back to bad picture loss of sound.. thats why I thought I would ask on here to see if other memembers in other areas are experiencing the same.
  13. Hi members... Well thought I would ask if anyone has had bad reception suddenly with Freeview tv signals, breaking up and on some occasions disappearing altogether!! Over the last couple of weeks here in our marina (where before we had no probs)suddenly tv not worth watching... as we miss most of the programme!!! Anyone else having similar probs? I'm not techie enough to understand this 4g super fast broadband that is/has been spoken about to know if this is the problem?? Has it arrived here in Staffordshire yet yes/no?? Help before I kick the box over the side and do the crossword lol
  14. I was having a look for the coverage areas as best I could, bit awkward when you dont know many post codes around the system lol... Any ideas what the coverage is with Vodafone as mentioned by The Dog house? I have been using 3 on the boat for few years now, and been happy with the coverage around the cut.... I think Vodafone has been mentioned on here in the past with broadband/phone conn , but cant remember if yay.. or Nay..
  15. for quick reply.. I have been a customer of theirs (home phone) for quite a few years now, and have been very happy with their services etc.. But as you say, this is a new venture and their packages seem good value for mobile and net uses.. but only IF you get a GOOD connection both with phone and net... ummm.... Dont want to dump my 3 dongle and then find it was a bad decision Decisions, decisions..
  16. Anyone got any experience with Talktalk phone/net coverage on the cut? Just looking at an offer they are giving me as a Talktalk customer and wondering if any of the forum members have their phone packages and can comment on connections. Might be worth it as I'm currently using a 3 dongle for the tinternet and an 02 mobile (PAYG) that is. Any comments appreciated as usual
  17. Not sure about Willey Moor lock... but on the forum a member put up a pic of an 'Anglo Welsh' boat which had sank in the next one down 'Quoisley lock'... we had only left that lock 2 days previous!!
  18. Them were the days eh... Good 'ole Mel sitting at the top keeping an eye on things while making his fenders. Now retired I think on his boat... still making his fenders moored opp 'the Anchor' pub...
  19. Hello... At Gnosall too lol.... Well from the past years always went to the 'boat' never been to the navigation so cant comment, so cant help with that pub...
  20. Tks again folks for your kind (and as usual) help. Number one, didnt know what this part was called, and two, didnt know it was a replaceable bit Tks Chris for the diagram explains the parts. Now.... problem is now... where to get one... I didnt have a very good signal for a search, looked on Midland's site, couldnt find anything there (used their search box to trace), Limekilns down the Staffs... No. Maybe they dont stock these things, only by order? So bit screwed at mo... as NO source of heat now... as my diesel Mikuni needs a service as that not working, and now the solid fuel stove.. grrr... This has been a year of probs so if they say things go in '3's well we have reached that now lol.... anyways tks again for the help... at least it doesnt mean a new stove... at 700 odd at squids a throw!!!!
  21. Hi guys & gals.... Help please, I decided to give my stove a clean out today and found that the 'back plate' (looks like a circular disc shape) has fallen off!!!!!! and there is a lot of rust etc.... Now what? Is this what this part is called 'back plate'? Is it replaceable... Midland swindlers??? Any ideas of how much.... Does the stove need to be removed to fit a new part??? Any help gratefully received as usual..... tks
  22. Tks for that info Roger, much appreciated. We follow what you are saying - and makes sense to have a look, or get someone to remove and find if this is the fault with it. Guess need to get the spares anyway in advance of this happening, then hopefully will be back in action again
  23. Just tried to fire it up again, 'no joy' but engine bay filled with 'white smoke' which as you say think is just unburnt diesel. When you turn it on... you get the 'clicking noise', also a whooshing noise as well (is this the air fan you mentioned on the posts?).. Batteries all ok and charged so not insufficient power here either... Hubby waited a while to begin with when he tried unit again, and at first we both thought, great seems to be working.. until we saw the white smoke that is... what a bugger.. as said, maybe due to insufficient use (through winter)as anything on boats left for a while seem to be pain in the 'arris' when not used for a while as we all know on here. Might have to get someone near to us to have a look at it more closely and see what prob is... Cos dont know enough about this to start taking apart! By way.. I was wrong with the unit it is a MX40 not 60... oopps sorry excuse a lady's ignorance
  24. Sounds like you are on the right track Roger.. your description of 'white smoke drifting lazily away' is the way hubby described it to me... like a ciggy drifting up is what he said lol... as to the 'flashing codes' etc. our manual on this heater mentions about these codes as well.. but dont think either of us have seen any lights on it to make a comment! Would be handy as might give us a clue as to what is wrong with it... ho hum
