Our coolboxes have always been 'Eskies' - probably from Oz emigre family contacts? New to narrowboating, the senior officer (Mrs. A) has asked the very question what is one doing while chugging down the cut? Drive I agree sounds bad, motoring or cruising, or indeed chugging.....? Was there a conclusion/definitive answer?? Steering seems more appropriate to canals than 'helming'. And 'winding holes' - rhymes with grind or grinned?? The Foxes Afloat chaps insist on the latter, but I wonder if someone was winding them up....? (See what I did there..??). A whole new world opening up - great!!

Could do, a lot further and much longer, and we need her South pretty soonish.... And do chill folks, wow no- one died, and do recognise tongue in cheek humour (or any sort of humour...?).... Yes, truck and crane is proving to be even more expensive than I thought, and perhaps twice the cost of motoring down the cut. Yes I kind of would expect CRT and the landowner responsible to have some awareness, sense of some urgency, but I’m not losing sleep over it. Peace love and harmony to all.......?

On topic, the Soot Hill landslip.... Hilariously I've asked CRT what is going on, and whether the third party landowner (or insurers) has been notified of all the costs being incurred / lost by boat owners...... Looking seriously at Plan B road transport....ho hum..... I can send them the bill for the sake of a stamp/email...... ?

Different issue methinks. Blockage is landslip at Bridge 200, that's blocking our boat in the North. Don't need the lift fortunately.....

related but not so focussed perhaps. As a newcomer to narrowboats, I'm frankly amazed that full boat thefts happen (as opposed to thefts from boats) - surely not the obvious candidate for a quick getaway, nor an environment to wander around undetected...??? Naive of me perhaps.......
