  1. Do we think it's a genuine mistake, or deliberate mis representation? If deliberate, for what reason?
  2. Could be time consuming, it doesn't always do it... Good call, I will check! Injector leak off goes to the top of the filter then on to the tank.
  3. Morning all, BMC 2.2 diesel engine, over the last few months its not started on a number of occasions. From cold I give it a bit of throttle, hold the heayer plugs for 10 to 15 seconds, press the start button, she turns ove and bursts into life, runs for about 8 seconds revs pick up slightly and dies.... The only way I've found to get ut started know is to crck off each injector, put some paper towel under each one and crank until fuel appears on each injector. Nip the injectors back up, and crank after a good fee seconds she'll burst into life... The old gal will run fine for the rest if the day... My assumption here is that some how air is getting into the fuel line, problem is where...! I've been all over the pump, pipe work and filter but can see any dampness. My only thought now is the mechanical pump.... Any ideas..??? Thanks Dave. Edit: I had the injection pump and injectors serviced a few years ago by a reputable diesel shop.
  4. I spend all my time on a river, currently have a 900 litre diesel tank, if I relied on electric charging points I'd be really nervous with not many places to moor and possibly no space to moor due to others charging...
  5. Do it your self, it's not difficult and you'll know the system inside out so of you need to do any fault finding later it'll be easy...
  6. The other day I was thinking I needed louder horns... now i know which ones to get 😁
  7. https://lpggpl.com/products/uk-lpg-propane-gas-bottle-pol-refill-autogas-adaptor-kit-for-uk Might be worth a look...
  8. The local kids were jumping off the lock while I was trying to use it last weekend. I dare say if one had got injured it would have been my fault... A family also got really grumpy at me when I wanted to use the next lock, apparently I was disrupting they're picnic....
  9. If you have a mityvac you can pressurise the coolant system and monitor for a pressure drop... hopefully then track down the leak...
  10. Agreed but so does hydrogen production and so does electricity generation to charge all the batteries...
  11. And there in lies the question... I'm wondering if Synthetic fuels or sinfuels are to be classed as 'zero emission' its rather looking like they might be for cars....
  12. A good friends brother has aspergers, he really doesn't cope when new people speak to him, he gets really jittery and anxious to the point he usually just ignores them and walks off to find quite... once he gets to know and trust you he's OK... everyone's different...
  13. I'm a little perplexed as to what you're asking?

  15. Yes, take the brass screws from the brass plate, remove the plate and rhe impeller should pull out. Be careful when installing a new one all the lobes need to be pointing the correct way. Edit. The front plate usually has a pump number on it so you can get rhe correct impeller... Reference the coolant level dropping, you have a leak somewhere. If you can't find a weep check rhe coolant pump shaft... if you have a mitivac you can pressurise the coolant system with out getting it hot!!! It's often easier find a weep when it's cold as it doesn't immediately turn to steam.
  16. I may well be mis understanding this but when you're moving the engine will be either hot or warming up quickly.. the coolant system is a closed loop and should pressurise, you shouldn't really be opening rhe coolant when it's hot....
  17. For sound insulation I use 10mm closed cell foam, on top of that the thickest MLV (mass loaded vinyl) you can afford, then 25mm foil faced foam...
  18. Agree with Tony. Check the raw water pump impler. They wear and fall apart to the point where there is no cooling... I take it you have a wet exhaust, is there plenty of water coming out??
  19. Dependant on the quality of the LED light you may have killed it connecting it up backwards the first time....
  20. LEDs have a positive and a negative... use a test meter to test or in your case just swap the wires around.
  21. It always amazes me how impractical some people are. I seem to have acquired a bit of a name for myself at the marina for repairing things, not that I want to spend my time working on other people's boats but I just can't say no when someone asks for help... a few weeks ago someone came knocking asking if I could help as they're "boat wasn't working". I was a little perplexed by this so asked them to show me. Turned out they meant the engine wouldn't start, to be more accurate it wouldn't turn over. I asked where the isolator was and got a blank look and "I don't know" asked where that battery was, same answer... Got the test meter out, battery dead. Asked where the battery charger was, met with another blank look. Turns out they'd unplugged the shore power as they didn't know what it was and not visited the boat for a few years ?!?!
  22. Perfect, good to know. Yes I'll give them a shout, thank you.
  23. Thank you, I've had a look and yes there does seem to be a bit of a trend! This one has a temp guage the reads accurately, holding about 65 degrees all day long.... Yes, I've seen this before. Had the waterpump refurbished with new impeller, seals and bearings! Ooooh interesting! Where did you source the parts from? Is there anyway of telling if I got a modified head gasket or not? Ah, so they ARE stretch bolts, I did suspect they were...!
  24. Ha! Go you, jammy bugger, I bet your over the moon!!
