  1. If you have a mooring with hookup it's no different than living in a house. If you want to run one off-grid then be prepared to spend money on your electrical setup. Most boaters just use lappies or mobile devices.
  2. Yes... it also plays a soundclip of Frankie Howard saying... "Oooo, no misses... titter ye not!"
  3. I've rigged my fridge light to be permanently on... how else is the internal security camera going to keep an eye on the camembert? I can't risk that stuff making a break for it.
  4. 34? I doubt you'd have that many in a 4 bedroom house. Obviously someone had a fetish.

  9. Orange man bad? Well you know... I need some under gunwhale mood lighting but I can't think of anything worse than orange.

  11. I wondered how long it would take someone to game the system.
  12. Let's say any source of light and see how petty it gets, lol. There's probably some guy on a boat who has a business making candles.
  13. Are we gonna count fridge lights... we can count fridge lights. I also have my USB head torch and if I do a karate chop move on my G8 Moto Power the light comes on... it was reason enough to buy it.
  14. You MIGHT win most number of lights and LEDs... but I'm still leading most number of shite lights.

  16. I have a boat where the previous owner's attitude to lighting was cleary "let's not fix it let's add more." I have: 9 halogen spot lights 3 halogen directional lights 1 large halogen kitchen light 2 double halogen strip lights 3 LED strip lights 3 directional battery LEDs with an attempted (failed) hack to run it off the 12v. 1 tunnel light running off the domestics 1 tunnel light running off the bow thruster battery, because... reasons. Anyone inherrited more/worse? Next stop replacement fittings and bedazzled LEDs.

  22. Duct tape for when you don't want something to move and WD40 for when you do want it to move. And whisky... all of the whisky.
  23. Thanks for the comments. I'm not about to do anything involving flamables without seeking advice, which is why I'm here. Skim reading, someone said that the generator itself also needs to be kept in a suitable locker even when not in use and drained of fuel. If one cannot be kept in the well deck I think that rules one out for me. There is space to build up another locker on my semi-trad stern but I don't really want to do that. Thankfully I've had some great tips about what to do with my solar today which, along with a new alternator, should sort my power needs until the winter, when I rather suspect a winter mooring beckons. It's just not worth the grief of trying to be yearlong liveaboard on a boat with my specifications.
  24. How about this one: https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/clarke-ig2200-2-2kw-inverter-generator/
