  1. I've only got a 30ft boat. To get small extinguishers that met the spec I struggled with mainstream outlets and had to go with the chandlers.
  2. From my very basic understanding of tort law cases can involve damage caused through neglect or an omission of a duty of care. I can't see how this would apply to the boat owner who had no idea their boat had been moored alongside. Other parties maybe.
  3. You can get 12v TVs. Probably not 56" monsters but you wouldn't get the optimal viewing distance for one that big on most narrowboats.
  4. Got you. That makes sense now. I was always a bit unsure before.
  5. Which haggis leg is preferable. Do they move round the mountains clockwise or anticlockwise?
  6. I never liked Tizer or Irn Bru as a kid. Too metallic or just odd. We had the Corona man deliver fizzy pop bottles weekly. Imagine that branding now.
  7. Good luck in the rough seas. If you dont already have experience of them, listen to people who do.
  8. I've got a couple of the Tippy style ash Carrie's but they are kept outside. It not good that some sites (not Tippy) decribe them as fireside ash containers and use wording such as this- Store hot ash by your fire to cool down with this handy ash safe. Made from sturdy, corrosion resistant galvanised steel the ash safe can safely store hot ash and embers leaving them to cool by the fireside. When the ash has cooled it can then be carried outside and safely deposited.

  10. Very sad. It doesn't say in the article but is this due to blocked or partially blocked exhausts?
  11. I think that was already mentioned earlier in the thread but worth mentioning again and again. It's not something campers or boaters would think of if they weren't aware of the dangers. Even people at home with a bucket for ashes beside the stove while they sit there oblivious of the danger.
  12. I think ethnic is better than ethnics. If I used the word ethnics at work I would at least have a talking to, probably a warning. I do agree that some of the smaller shops catering for their local communities do have some good offers on certain items compared to the major supermarkets, even if their product lines can be limited, as are are all smaller shops.
  13. I'm not sure Irn Bru is cheaper South of the border.
  14. "Cater to ethnics" Not a great choice of words there @LadyG

  22. Is "inside seas" a new term for canals?
  23. I thought they might be offering to pilot your narrowboat to Majorca or New York. But it was hard to tell exactly what they were saying.
