  1. Really? Every Elysian 27 Centre cockpit that I have looked at all look identical - are there known subtle differences? Out of luck there - the engine is not believed to be the original
  2. I recently acquired a circa fifty year old boat, an Elysian 27 Centre Cockpit. It seems to have undergone a lot of interior alterations. Can anyone advise me as to where I might possibly still find an internal reference code that would inform me of year of manufacture? There is nothing on the transom, externally, to help me. Was there a need for boats from the late sixties, early seventies to have an ID marking and for particular manufacturers'/models was there a specific location internally where this might have been etched? AS I am probably the fifth owner of the boat, you can appreciate that original documentation has been lost.
  3. Hi Wotever, Thank you for that sound advice, just what I needed. Can I take it that auto bilge pumps are designed where winter shore power is available & not for several months off grid?
  4. Hi all, I was informed that when off grid over the winter, a good way to keep the auto bilge pump functioning would be to use a solar panel to trickle charge the battery. I am not 100% sure if this is what the guy said to me. Assuming this is possible, I wish to know (1) if a very small solar panel (12V, 4.5W) linked to the battery via crocodile clips would suffice?; (2) is there a recommended solar panel wattage considered appropriate for trickle charging the battery over winter, if above version is not appropriate; (3) could such a trickle charge solar panel overcharge the battery with no escape for potential gas build-up in the battery? As a newbie, these are the first of many naïve questions that I may ask - hopefully, once you have jettisoned your world weary sagely countenance, you might take pity upon this pathetic wretch and offer a modicum of advice. Thank you in advance for reading this.
  5. John, Thank you so much. They do indeed seem to have them under what I presume is their own name, Sunstar Cruiser. I will contact them with my query.
  6. Does anyone know the official galley height in the aft galley of a mid-cockpit Elysian 27? I am not very tall, just 177 cm or about 5'9" I was surprised with the low height of the aft galley of the only Elysian 27 Mid Cockpit that I have stood in. Did these boats start life with this low height or is this typical of galleys/cabins in 50 yr old small cruisers. Do GRP boats shrink with age?!! I thought I would find an answer at http://www.elysianboats.co.uk/ but that site seems to have become defunct. Anyone else experience low heights in galleys or cabins in this or other old cruisers, e.g. Norman 22, 23, 24, Freeman 22,23,24, Standard Aft cockpit Elysian 27? Thanks for reading this
