  1. OK. Well at least I know now. Thank you everyone for your time and advice. Any recommendations for a new pump?
  2. OP here. So I was trying to get a pin in and clearly water is in the wire and can been seen here coming out. Guessing this is not a good thing and why it is not working.
  3. Ok so I lack a lot of technical ability but could maybe muddle through some of this. At the end of the day though what am I looking at. Best and worse case scenarios.
  4. Yeah I only have led bulbs available. I can get hold of a multi meter if that will help
  5. Has far as I am aware it is just left over from old electrics and has no function.
  6. Couldn't tell you exactly but less than 5. About 2 to 3 years at guess Blade fuses
  7. I attached a cigarette lighter charger to the wires coming out of the switch into the pump and it worked fine
  8. Scratch that. I tried something else and there is power going into the pump
  9. No I don't. Guess I will have to get one. I have a switch under the sink and have tried it a few times but nothing happening. OK so how do i do this. Assume I am an idiot that knows nothing
  10. As the title says, I woke up this morning and the water pump is just doing nothing. It was fine last night and has given me no issues in the past. There is power on the boat and water in the tank but when you open a tap nothing. No water, no sound. Have checked for loose wires or any other obvious reasons why it wouldn't be working. It was cold in the night but it's been cold before. Any suggestions?
  11. What is the best way to maintain batteries through winter at a permanent mooring with no power hookup and a full time job
  12. Due to a gas issue I had to put my 60ft boat into a boatyard for most of November. Since then the solar panels haven’t worked at all and this last week the batteries are not holding any charge after running the engine. Last winter I could run the engine for 20-30 mins and have power for charging phones laptop etc for a good 3 or 4 hours. Now lucky to get an hour. Is it just the time of year. Should I be getting something from the solar panels as I am getting nothing. The batteries are only a year or two old but I guess they could be on the way out. Any help appreciated.
  13. Thank you. I went with your advice. It was definitely OAT in before so I topped it up. Quick question on same topic. Should I be worried that both tanks were very low? Does that mean there is a leak somewhere?
  14. New to all this so sorry if stupid question. I have two, what appear to be plastic header tanks located to the left and above Beta Marine engine with min/max on them. Both are nearly empty. What do I top them up with? I have some OAT antifreeze coolant already diluted. Will that be ok?
  15. Actually it is the other way around. The bigger boat has recently been renovated and is immaculate with all whistles and bells and at the price is a bit of a steal. The smaller one is pretty basic but sound. It will need work. The difference is about ten grand.
  16. Thanks for responses. I will be around Oxford and the Thames area. Both boats are narrow beam. It will be just me with not much stuff but I do want it to be my home for the next few years.
  17. In the process of buying a boat and have a choice between a lovely little 45ft boat or a much bigger but much roomier 67ft boat. My question is which is better for a first time owner? Also will be continuously cruising at least for a year and again is a smaller boat better or is there no real difference?
