  1. Free standing furniture is hard to find in narrow boat size, I bought two leather armchairs from sofa sofa, they fitted a treat and are super comfy. They are the Albert range. Delivery men were very grumpy.

  16. just another thought, our neighbour was getting really bad headaches, he had swept the chimney but didn,t realise that soot sat on the top of the back boiler and was blocked. He ended up in A&E. He had two smoke alarms and two carbon monoxide alarms.
  17. Best of luck with everything but if possible try to travel less hours, 7 hrs is a long time at the tiller. maybe 4 would be less stressful. If meeting other boaters at locks tell them your a novice and you will get help at the locks.
  18. We were at Hillmorton locks earlier this year, went to help as normal and got told not to as chap working lock was being trained. He got shouted at to work the paddles and the poor chap wasn,t sure which was a paddle and which was the gate, he was embarassed. I stood back and waited till he had finished. He then climbed onboard the bow as it was exiting the lock and got shouted at again as it was a dangerous practice. To think this chap was paying for it, shame on the company.
  19. Some marina owners charge lots extra to turn a blind eye.
  20. Was at Kings lock on Tuesday, Lenghsman said water was 18" down. We got stuck every rew yards. I think our draft is 31". Lenghsman had to flush couple of inches though but very hard going. We did phone before leaving and wasn,t given much help. Tried to turn around but couldn,t. After bumblebee lock things were easier and only dragged a few times.
  21. I thought these were good for my clothes until I washed husbands grubby filthy work ware. No they dont work.
