Thanks for the response. We'd like to mix it up a bit with some attractions along the way, not just boating. Locks would be great to get the kids involved but not every couple of miles if that's at all possible. Apart from that, not really fussed about where as long as the boat/price is right. I'm assuming a ring means a loop so you end up where you start?

Hi everyone. I may have joined the wrong forum so apologies if so, and if anyone can point me in a better direction I'd appreciate it. I'm trying to find details/advice on a canal boat holiday for a beginner. My only experience is a week's holiday 30 years ago in Llangollen and I'd live to do something similar with my family. Can anyone suggest reputable companies to hire from, suitable routes for beginners that are not too difficult to navigate, the type/spec of boat that would be suitable for a family of 4 with 2 under 11s?
