  1. I will see what they say when it comes out of the water for a look-see. Thanks all.
  2. It was all fitted by the engineers at Calcutt boats. The prop is bigger than the old prop but I can’t remember the actual size and pitch. Although in during fitting, the prop was put on using a sledgehammer.
  3. Hi all We recently had a new engine and prop fitted. Before the fitting it was smooth there is a nut. After fitting there is a lot of excessive movement in the whole Tiller arm assembly. Just a year before this the bearings were all renewed so I doubt it’s that. Any ideas at all?
  4. Any more enthusiasm for Canaline engines??? ??‍♂️??‍♂️??‍♂️
  5. B.E.T.A. I spell propper Englund like I used too could!!! ??? Some good points here guys. Thanks. I’m still undecided though. ???
  6. Some good points here guys. Thanks. I’m still undecided though. ???
  7. Looking at replacing my engine; BMC 1.5. Beta 50 and Canaline 52 are the current favoured options. Boat is Narrowboat 70’ x 7’ and 22 ton. Any feedback would be appreciated. ??
  8. Following the announcement from the Prime Minister (8.30pm, 23 March 2020) regarding the UK’s response to the coronavirus crisis, we are asking leisure boaters to stop all non-essential travel. As a result, and to help those who live-aboard (along with those who would need to travel to their boat in order to move it) we are suspending the requirement to move every 14 days. We are asking boaters to stop all non-essential travel on our waterways, with exception of accessing local facilities. The suspension will be kept under review in line with revised government guidance, applying initially until 14 April 2020. During this period you do not need to contact us to tell us you will be staying one location for more than 14 days. We ask everyone to be considerate and make sure vital boater facilities and services accessible to those that need them.
  9. Hi Jen. Love the bit about territorial squirrels ? . ? The boat is 70ft. ?
  10. Just talking now, we may just fit two Squirrels. One back end, one up front. Boom!!!
  11. Yeh, the hurricane is diesel as is our current system. Many people recommend squirrel and to be honest I’d love to get away from diesel systems. Current output from ours is awful and it can’t be used in windy conditions as there’s lots of blowback. Thanks for your advice. Very much appreciated and very helpful.
  12. Multi fuel if possible. Coal and wood.
  13. Need ideas as was planning to install a Hurricane. We currently have a gravity feed Old English stove type with back boiler. Very temperamental. Also thinking Squirrel multi fuel stove with back boiler so it can be plumbed straight onto our current system. Any thoughts and especially experiences guys please. Thank you.
  14. Thank you. I’ve also located the pulley wrench so I can hold it in place. Just got to acquire it now. Thank you again. I’ll grab my large tyre levers as well just in case. Many thanks guys. ???
  15. Hi Guys. On this subject, how do you remove the nut? The manual mentions the tool but it’s not illustrated in the manual tools section. Need to stop the pulley moving so it can be removed. ??‍♂️
