  1. Come on it can't be that bad just to motor through lol
  2. I haven't been through Nuneaton yet. I will pass it tomorrow. Ended up picking up the misses in Atherstone at the VMs. Great spot with a Donkey that kept visiting from the neighboring pasture lol.
  3. Starting off for a holiday tomorrow from Kings Orchard Marina. Looked through the posts and saw some old ones on Tamworth and Nuneaton. Any advice on mooring in either place. Need to be at Nuneaton on Tuesday but other than that I am free to stay where I like. Thanks in advance!
  4. Just wanted to drop in and thank everyone for your suggestions. We ended up heading to the Napton bottom lock and then back. Our first night we moored near the Braunston tunnel. Then on to Napton. The next night we spent an amazing night near Flecknoe. and then I stayed at Nether Heyford and somewhere closer to the Gayton Junction our last night. It was an amazing trip and I am looking for a boat already. Can't wait to get back. Didn't make it to Stoke Breurne this trip but will do it next time. Thanks again to all of you for your help.
  5. Thank you. We are definitely considering Warwick. My son is a little concerned about the 76 locks we would have to do in 8 days there and back but we're going to see how we feel when we get there. he doesn't want to spend all the time in locks. Which I get
  6. thanks everyone. I'm going to check out the routes suggested today. We chose that route based on Videos on youtube and the canal trust maps. I have watched some of Minimalists's videos. Two weeks from today I fly out. Very excited!
  7. thank you all. We are hiring for 7 nights. I will get the book suggested. We plan to cruise about 6 hours a day, but are also planning to take it as it comes and stopping to check out whatever looks good. We are interested in History, I know that is a broad subject in a country like England. I am doing the trip because I am considering buying a boat and living on it half the year. So I want to experience narrow boat life. I lived on a sail boat in the pacific for many years, and know this is different. However, the freedom I see in the videos I watch is the same.
  8. There are three of us (all adults) on the holiday. I appreciate you bringing it up. I originally planned to go alone till I learned this in doing research.
  9. Hello All, I will be hiring a boat from Gayton Marina in a few weeks and it is my first time on a narrow boat and first time in England. My plan is to head to Braunston and then north on the oxford towards Rugby and see how far I can get. My question is this; What should I make sure I see on the way? Any recommendations for must see or do activities? Thanks in advance. I appreciate all your help.
