  1. They say: Territorial Scope: Ashore or afloat on inland non tidal waters and interconnecting tidal waterways of the UK, including the Broads, and the river Thames not seaward of the Thames Barrier. Fantastic - why can't everyone else be that clear. They are also below the other asking prices ( which I have to say makes me wonder a little - looking gift horse in mouth perhaps ). Thanks for the suggestion.
  2. HI, Its renew time again, and my broker is pointing me at another insurer. I keep seeing Non-Tidal Inland waterways - but surely that exclude Teddington to Brentford, Bits of the Trent, the last length of the river Avon before Bristol ? This must eb a very common problem - which insurance companies over these ranges ? Any ideas ? Tim,
  3. Our boat is about 7 years since the previous owner had the Hull 2 pack epoxy applied. ( He never skimped, so I believe it was done to a good standard ). But I've hit the odd thing underwater, the rocks on the side of the Oxford canal weren't so great heading down to the Thames. So I'm thinking time to take a look. Does this make sense ? Its just out of the water for 1 day ( need to book up much further in advance for the week long spots ). If you use a power washer will it harm the coating ? ( Ok its my risk, but interested in opinions ). What I'm looking to see is can I go on with a few years or some patching with 2 pack over any issues, or do I need to line up a more serious job ? Interested to hear what your opinions are ! Tim ( Suikerbossie )
  4. Any news in 2022 here ? Thinking of a trip whilst coming back to the Thames. Any issues with over night mooring ?
  5. I found a refractometer good for checking coolant ( see attached ). But I wondering if I don't need to add some sort of biocide. Some signs of growth in the header tank and I needed to bleed most of the radiators ( air - or CO2/CH4 from bugs ? ). Anyone put a biocide in their heating system ?
  6. Sadly the loops are on the tank. I should perhaps have added a photo from further back which shows the tank more clearly.
  7. Hi, I have an ex-Black Prince probuild narrowboat which has the weed hatch apparently through the fuel tank. The hatch is secured by a bar across two steel loops welded to the tank. One of these loops has failed ( maybe my fault over tightening weed hatch - appears to be ductile failure of one loop, see picture ). It seems to me that I will need a new loop welded in, but this is on top of the diesel tank. I believe the diesel tank is integral with the boats structure - so does this mean the diesel tank need to be drained first and inerted before welding ? Does it then require pressure testing again ? Any advice on practice here ?
