I agree with you. All i can say is what i am being told. Motor has been checked by 2 different mechanics plus my brother. The marina mechanics have tried and tried to get it to start. They checked the with the rocker cover off and valves all seem to be moving. Compression test was carried out of all 3 cylinders and read 100 psi each. Tank feed has been disconnected and fresh fuel source. Still does not even attept to start. There appears to be cylinder blow back so both different mechanics are putting money on the rings, of course noy saying the valves are seating 100% It will not even cough of Easy Start. This engine may have not been started for years. The old gentleman who owned it befor lived on the boat for at least 7 years and never took her out of the marina. The last mechanic who looked last Saturday said with his checks can see no reason why it will not start so is pointing to something internal. We have located an engine build kit and have decided to strip and build the engine.

You are most probably right. Bores have been oiled up and he is going to see if it makes any difference and try to start it again next Thursday.

Yes all checks have been carried out by two seperate engineers, both have tested compression and all 3 cylinders are showwing 100 psi, manual says should be around 240 psi so well down. . Basically we understand previous owner just lived on er and never left the marina. Suspecting rings are stuck or rusted, she seems to be blowing back. We know the fuel tank is contaminated. Engine may have not been started for years. Looks like we are going to have this engine rebuilt, just thought someone might have had a reconditioned one that we could have had a deal with. Engine will not even attempt to start on Easy start.

Hi just asking if anyone has for sale an Isuzu 3KC 18EA Engine for sale. Just purchased a 45 foot Trad with a non running engine. Compression is down, engine turns over A okay but will not start. Looking at a rebuild, however just wondered if there was one ready to drop in as a replacement. Thanks.

Thank you for your opinion. Same as bizzard suggests. I am going to get a replacement retaining plate. I have emailed a couple of suppliers but not had a reply yet. Thank you for your advice.
