  1. Thanks all again...??
  2. Thanks for the helpful replies... Will take a look ??
  3. Not really too bothered....something around the Worcester area maybe good, I th8nk that there is a Marina at Droitwich...which is much less of a drive. Anybody know what it’s like?
  4. Hi, we we are South Wales based and looking to find a Marina for a 58 foot narrowboat as close to home as possible. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good secure Marina, at sensible rates that’s not the 3 hour drive that we currently make to Northamts? many t(hanks
  5. Perfect reply... Spot on as to what I was trying to get some context around. I had overlooked the point you make about topping up when it gets down to around 60 litres or so... Just goes to underline the learning curve ahead but hopefully one that will be such good fun. ??
  6. Really helpful. If I can still justify the 60/40 split on the main tank (battery charging /lighting etc)... Then that's a big help.
  7. Bingo.... Thanks ?? Just as an added complication... Heating and water will come from a diesel stove with a separate tank.... If I'm just filling the main fuel tank then presume 60 /40 or 80 /20 can still be applied for battery charging etc?
  8. Still not 100% clear here... £180 sounds steep for a fill up? C'est la vie
  9. If I bank on around £130 for a fill up.....assuming I declare a 60 / 40 split which seems to be the norm, then I shouldn’t be far wide if the Mark?
  10. So how would that translate into a tank fill up?
  11. As a to be newbie on the network, can someone give me a rough steer as to diesel costs? I think ours will be a 160 litre tank, and I was wondering at current prices (and the good old 60 / 40 split), what I should expect to pay to fill the tank? many thanks
  12. Washing lines are another hot topic - I hadn't yet linked the 2...many thanks
  13. Thanks to all for the advice.. I think that the beer calculation puts the final nail in the cover coffin for now ?
  14. Hadn’t thought about condensation...good point....! Maybe we’ll chew on it for a bit ...see how we feel nearer the end of the season....let’s at least complete the purchase and start stumbling about the network first! cheers
  15. Yep, doors, windows ....all seems watertight and in top nick at the mo...maybe just me being over cautious. There is the gas locker and another storage locker so room for everything to be dry that needs to be stored. I was simply looking at a cover to give added protection. She’s a 2006 boat and appears to be in excellent condition.
  16. I think we will enjoy using the open space in summer months so not to bothered about a formality wooden structure, just a way of keeping the worst of the winter weather out?
  17. Nothing there at present I believe, just the open we’ll deck. I think she’s about 9 feet from the doors to the bow tip.
  18. I’d intended it to cover the bow / well deck area....
  19. Hi - can anyone offer advice on cratch covers / Tonneaux? purchasing a new boat with nothing fitted and concerned about the winter. Kinver canopies are asking about £600 for a fitted Tonneau cover, does anyone have experience elsewhere....cheaper? We’ll be Braunston area to start. many thanks
  20. I was reassured by an earlier post referencing a well handled claim by Collidge but I have to say that Craft Insure are nearly £100 cheaper. This does make you stop and think?
  21. They seem to have a loyal following - are they better than Collidge? So hard to know what to do for the best
  22. I had thought of that, and will probably do it, but won’t have time before taking ownership. Collidge have offered cover at about where every body else has quoted and so I think that I will probably run with them. once again, cheers for all the help.
  23. They would only offer terms if I confirmed that a number experienced skipper was in control until I was competent....! Not sure I’ve ever been competent at anything.....at least that’s what my wife says! Collidge seem quite optimistic....so will keep you posted. Cheers all again.
  24. Will try Coolidge.....Euro Marine join the long list of refusals due to no experience......!
