  1. Can anyone recommend an engineer who can fit a new webasto thermo top to my boat in London? I’ve spoken to David at ECMHE, but he doesn’t fit equipment he hasn’t supplied. thanks
  2. Thanks everyone for your responses, it seems like on balance my best option is probably just to get a new diesel heater after all, I’ll just have to hope it behaves itself!
  3. Just replacing the old diesel heater with a new one was naturally my first thought, but a few things concern me: -Costs up front and for ongoing servicing seem to be really high. -Lots of reports of them being extremely unreliable. -Noise. The cabin is next to the engine room where the heater would be mounted. If it was on a timer it would end up effectively becoming a rather unpleasant alarm clock. I’m aware the gas boilers are a lot less economical, but my use would be fairly light and occasional, so this might offset itself against the costs mentioned above. That’s not to say I’ve made my mind up, I’m just looking to get some advice and weigh up the options.
  4. Ah yes, sorry a bit vague. 50ft boat. I’m wanting to replace a broken diesel heater. So I have a calorifier and a couple radiators installed already.
  5. Is anyone able to recommend a gas boiler, and point me in the direction of an engineer who could fit one in London?
  6. Thanks for getting back to me. The unit had previously been starting up to the point that I could feel air being pushed out of the exhaust, but would then fail to ignite. Whilst trying to get it working the other evening I got the 7 lights telling me to change the spark plug, which I did. This didn’t seem to make any difference and eventually it stopped trying to start at all, with three warning lights indicating thermistor failure. Messing around with something I thought might be the thermistor I managed to accidentally snap a couple of little wires off, so the one thing I know for sure is that that bit is definitely broken.
  7. Hello all, Sorry to make my first post a request like this, but I’m desperately trying to find someone who can bring a Mikuni MX40 diesel heater back to life for me. Is anybody able to point me in the direction of an engineer with knowledge of this unit who’d be able to do a call out to my boat in London? Thanks
