  1. Hiya, thank you so much for this. Yes this is a Eurocruiser. We have looked at this one online, it is a lovely boat and it would have been perfect except it is 62ft long and our mooring is only 60ft long unfortunately.
  2. Thank you for your reply. Yes we obviously would need to do some measuring when we get the boat, but just wanted some peoples opinions on specialist sofa manufactuers as always like to favour the smaller businesses. Sorry but I obviously didn't given enough information before posting. The fundamentals of the boat have been viewed, tried, tested, discussed and chosen over several years of looking, so this is the more fine details that we wanted advice on. We are certainly not buying the boat on vanity, just personal choice, comfort and space. ? Many thanks for your reply. We are mainly going to be moored up on the canal, we are not planning (initially anyway) on crusing too far. As we have a home mooring at a marina, we don't have to do the travelling as per cc regulations. The areas of Saul, Slimbridge etc really appear to us (we have been going for walks there every weekend for years), so just the idea of mooring up in the middle of nature appeals to us greatly.
  3. Many thanks for your helpful information. I perhaps should have put a bit more info before I posted. We have been looking to buy a boat for over 7 years and have looked at and tried hundreds of different boats over this time, both narrow and wide and finally decided that a widebeam suited our requirements for my husband's forthcoming retirement. This was not a snap decision, we have done a lot of research regarding the actual technical sides / requirements of living / cruising on a boat. My husband has also experience of piloting boats of different types/sizes. We were just hoping to get a little bit of advice about the not so important things. I have joined a few Facebook groups, so will post on there as well. Many thanks?
  4. Hi Dave Thank you for your "informative" answer. Perhaps I should have given a bit more information before I asked such specific questions. The cruiser stern style has appealed to us, not because we are gold medallion wearing wine sipping millionaires (sorry to disappoint you ?), but more because we love the idea of the extra entertaining space which would also double up as a comfortable area for me to work from during the warmer months. There are not many Euro cruisers currently available that fit all our requirements (size etc) and as we are not quite ready with the cash to go because our house sale has not completed yet, we are keeping our options open in case the ones we have seen sell in the meantime. We will have a home mooring in a marina but will also be spending long periods out on the cut, but as this will be on the G&S there should be plenty of room for us to do this without getting in anyone's way ?
  5. Am I missing something, what is the joke?? ?
  6. Thank you, we are hoping 5o, fingers crosed ?
  7. Thank you. I will look into them. We could be buying one with a euro cruiser stern but as we have a few weeks until our house sale completes, don't want to assume they will still be available so keeping our options open ?
  8. Hi All We are soon to become owners of a widebeam boat and can't wait to start our life on water. We will no doubt have lots of questions and would welcome any advice from fellow boaters, but I just have a couple of questions initially and hope for some advice please. Potentially, the boat we are buying will have a cruiser stern with a pram cover but no stern seating. Does anyone know how to go about getting the euro cruiser stern seating replicated? Any recommendations on if this can be done, by who, price etc? We really wanted a euro cruiser stern boat as we love the idea of having a comfy extra room for entertaining etc. but they are selling like hot cakes at the moment and we keep getting pipped to the post! Also, we would like a really good sized comfy L shaped sofa bed, with storage and have seen loads of smaller sofa beds or the click clack types for narrowboats but not sure where to look for larger ones for a widebeam (we are looking at 12.5ft). Has anyone bought a normal L shaped sofa bed from somewhere like made.com for a wideboat, are they easy to get on the boat etc? Many thanks in advance and I look forward to learning lots from you lovely people ?
  9. Thanks for all your help Steve. Greatly appreciated :-)
  10. Hi Steve Thank you so much for all your help. By "Sharpness" I presume you mean Sharpness Marina? I have never been there but could consider that if we were able to get a widebeam mooring there. I have messaged them and am just waiting for a response. It has been a dream for us for so long to live on a boat and we are currently desperate to get out of the rat race and fulfil our dreams. Sam
  11. Hi Steve Thanks so much for the info. I will go up there next weekend and ask someone. I will also look up Saul Junction Boat Owners Club too. Park End would be my first choice for a mooring (if we can't get in Saul marina) but we also like Splatt Bridge and any of the other offline moorings along the way (the quieter the better). We are just worried that we are going to find it hard to get a widebeam mooring that side of the Sharpness and we don't want to become continuous cruisers. Sam
  12. Hi Steve Thank you for this new information. I have already emailed watermarked to see if they can help or point me in the right direction. Do you know where Carla is located? Is she at the Green Shop? I will ask at The Stables (we go there most weekends) but if they are not able or willing to give me her number just be good to know where else to try. Thanks Sam
  13. Hi Rob That is very helpful, thank you very much for the info. Happy to be on the waiting list if it means getting a prime spot. Thank you :-)
  14. Hi All I am hoping someone can help me please. We are looking to buy our first boat to live on which has been a dream of ours for many years. We are looking to buy a widebeam and have seen a couple for sale at Saul Junction Marina (our preferred location) but they have always sold while we were looking at them or an hour or so after viewing. As it is nigh on impossible to get a widebeam mooring alone at the marina (have been on the waiting list for 2 years now), we are looking at other options of trying to get an offline mooring in the vicinity. There are currently no widebeam moorings available but in a recent visit we saw some private moorings at Park End Bridge which appear to have electrical hook up, water etc. There is what looks like a house and another building being worked on there. I wondered if any one knew who owns these moorings and if there are contact details available to go on the waiting list for a mooring there as I cannot seem to find any information about the moorings online? Thank you in advance.
