  2. Not true, because the declaration is about your proposed use of fuel, not your past use. That's the theory, of course, but my crystal ball is u/s at the moment, so I use my historical usage to forecast my future usage.
  3. Hope to be on the NABO stand on Sunday & Monday and around Cropredy for a few days before and after
  4. If you can wait until June, NABO will be publishing the costs gathered from our 2010 cost of boating survey. You can find last years figures on our web site and on pages 6-8 of last year's May NABO News. There's still time for you to submit your contributions to this year's survey, here. All data gratefully received.
  5. Should I stop using the electric hairbrush?
  6. But thanks anyway, Rog. Last Job, or anyone, if you want to ask us any more questions about how we do it, feel free to contact us.
  7. The official term is "Leg lag" - we invented it years ago - it's in the dictionary (on our laptops) - so if you start using "leg lag", in time people will know what you're talking about - well, we will anyway.
  8. wouldn't it be a good idea if there was a course at the Crick Show?
  9. We did it last year with our 57' narrowboat, using the diagonal method. Mind you we have never checked if 57' actually include the buttons!
  10. Thanks for raising this. As a continuous cruiser I take exception to the term "boating season" too. As NABO continuous cruising rep I will be raising this subject at the NABO Council meeting this Saturday. If I paid £20 per annum for my boat licence it would seem fair - but I pay rather more than that.
  11. Sounds like BW needs to use their mystery shoppers to check on the aforesaid.
  12. So you won't have read this before the op, but hopefully as you read this everything will have gone more smoothly than you could have hoped. Know that I have been praying for you. Best wishes for a great recovery now. John
  13. Yesterday I posted on the dishpointer.com forum about the problem with rural moorings. The website creator came back to me today to say that he had fixed it. I checked it this evening when we moored and indeed it does hit the position accurately. We got a great satellite signal within a matter of seconds. If you want to see how we use it, have a look here
  14. Ignore the deleted comment - Alan, the dishpointer creator has fixed this now! But beware if you are out in the country, as it tends to locate its marker at the nearest PostCode, and you then have to move it to where you are moored. Great tool!
  15. Seems like another argument to say that BW should have weekend cover for Waterscape. They might not think it's important but for boaters - both hirers and owners - the need to plan is paramount. Have they put up signs anywhere?
  16. If you are proposing that they drop the "Young", I counter propose that they drop the "Working" and become the YOung BOaters Society - YOBOs. Is anyone still in favour of working?
  17. What a great idea those bollards are - why didn't BW think of it first? It could have been included in the moorings consultation. Now there will have to be another consultation. As for parking meters, there's already one installed just east of Frankton Junction. It was sleeting today otherwise I'd have a picture to prove it.

  19. Didn't we give you our GPX from last year?
  20. We passed Casper on the cut the other day - no sign of life :-( Will keep an eye out on the way back. Didn't realise we were looking for Holly (again), Geoffrey - have been looking for Scumble :-( The lack of 3 signal meant we didn't know before now. Glad you seem to have enjoyed it though. We're going down Frankton locks tomorrow (quickly posts before the pumpkin arrives)

  22. We'll try to do some blessing over the next few days. We'll look out for you
  23. There's one here who is pretty good with the windlass, cos his better half is good with the tiller On narrow locks I much prefer working the locks, because I can step across the bottom gates, saving an eternity!
  24. As long as he doesn't post pictures of himself on a public forum
  25. I retired from the Church! And we want to see out :-)
