  1. There was no old one, it’s a completely new system. Seaflo, as far as I know, is a Chinese knock-off of Jabsco. They do a lot of water and bilge pumps. Why did I pick this one? As many of us do, I just saw something on EBay that looked right and went ‘click’ - I dare say I can fit a Square D pressure switch to sort it (if I can pick the right one of those 🤣).
  2. Good thought but on my Surecal the PRV is 4 bar which is c. 60psi.
  3. Recently fitted a Seaflo domestic water pump, the system seems to operate well with no leaks but after taps have been run for a longish time the pump runs on and on and on before switching off. There’s an accumulator in the system set at 19psi The spec says the pump has a shut off pressure of 60psi - could the need to build pressure up to what seems pretty high be the cause?
  4. That sounds a pretty convincing explanation to this electrical numpty - is there any visual difference; no markings on the bulbs.
  5. Some but not all the boat leds flicker when the water pump runs. Indeed on one circuit one light flickers and the other doesn’t. Most are the old school switched central dome light with down lighters in the galley. All the wiring is new and oversized for its job. No dimmers etc. Could it be bulbs? The flickerers all the tower type, the ok ones flat circular with an attached connector. These came from Bedazzled, the others I have no idea.
  6. Yes all doing it - but can I light the oven good question!
  7. Just started using our lpg hob after being out of use for three plus years during refit. The gas works fine but we have to hold any hot plate control knob down for 30+ seconds or the FFD cuts in and the gas goes out. Hold long enough and all’s fine. Anyone got any clues - fast running out of matches and patience.
  8. The crane guy gave me a pretty full explanation of the size needed and price. Basically they charge £1100 just for the crane to leave the yard. Plus the cost of a slinger/signaller person. Other crane firms are at least 20 miles away so I guess it’s bite the bullet time. At least the other end is a lot cheaper!
  9. I’m in Suffolk and it’s £1450 ex-VAT. It’s a local outfit - only about five miles away. I might query the need for a 100 tonner. The guy has looked at the site but I wasn’t there - maybe he’s taken a very pessimistic view on the boat weight.
  10. That’s what the crane people specced after a site visit. The boat is quite heavy c. 25 tons. The same firm offloaded using smaller crane and said it was near the limit. The technicalities I don’t know but it doesn’t need long extended jib stuff.
  11. I need to get my 60ft nb craned from hard standing at a farm onto a truck for transport to canals. I’m told I need a 100 tonne crane. I’ve been given a price by the local crane hire people but it strikes me as a bit steep. Can anyone give me a ballpark figure for what I ought to expect. It’s a straightforward site - lorry can sit alongside boat and crane along there too.
  12. Thanks all - we’ve had a look at Calcutt(a) and the dog voted with his feet: the wooden staging was fine but he wouldn’t even step on the metal stuff. Very scenic and quiet and space for dog walking. If the dog is happy Starwoman is happy and if she’s happy I’m happy so Calcutt it is.

  14. We want to make ours the main boat bed. We’ve got the usual three foam mattress pieces but thinking about a ‘topper’ that can be fitted with a bottom sheet and rolled up into the bed box so making the bed is quicker. Memory foam seems the obvious stuff but I don’t really like it - what do others use?
  15. Good thought ... except we live in Suffolk😏 (Debdale is about as close as you can get to us on the canals.)
  16. Thinking about a mooring here - first on the diy jetties then on the main ones. What do people think of the place? Friendly? And how dog friendly? Are the jetties metal gridding - that’s always bad news for a K9.
  17. Thanks for all the info. Our other thought was Debdale on the Leicester GU. A useful bit closer home and diy pontoon area. I’ll start a new strand about that one.
  18. Thinking of mooring here but - big question - are the jetties dog friendly? Some places seem to have metal gridding - non slip for people; awful for dogs. And what’s the unofficial line there on DIY? Not angle grinding and welding stuff but some banging and power sawing inside.
  19. I’m looking at the surface mounted Sequoia set up as I have a steel kelson under my floor right where I want to put a table leg base! Anyone tried it?
  20. It was £250 and understandably sold pretty quickly. (But I didn’t buy it.)
  21. This stove is for sale near me. It’s very, very similar to an Epping/Classic but has no identifying marks. It’s also very slightly wider (24 against 22 ins) and maybe an inch deeper. Does anyone recognise it?
  22. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 10 posts to view.
  23. Any more news on this issue? We have friends planning to do the Leicester Ring in mid July. I couldn’t find any info on the CRT website but maybe I was looking in the wrong place.
  24. Yes they do and this is what happened to one at Braunston

    JP3 for sale

Not by me - just seen it in one of my Facebook groups. As it’s a private group I can’t forward a link or any photos. It’s not a marine unit, sitting in a frame with a radiator so a genset or similar. This is the ad wording: “Lister JP3 Working order, fuel in frame Viewings welcome can be seen working, loading available” It’s £1200 and in Woodbridge Suffolk. If anyone’s interested let me know and I’ll pass on your details.
