  1. Using 600 grit watching Dracula. Any chance I can use electric sander?
  2. Ok Tony I am going to degrease the pump now, and there is no play or lift between shaft and body its quite solid and spins well.
  3. Oh no I was not suggesting to reuse them just was a general bit of information. Main blockage wedged in hard.
  4. When I took of the impeller cover there was no O'Ring but it had two gaskets fitted both in good condition.
  5. I have just organise everything you just said with photos, I am now quite sure the hose from the back of boat to oil cooler is the main inlet and that oil filter has two mesh filters that will catch anything before it gets into the pump, this explains why I have only found rubber in the system and no weeds at all. But remember going back in this thread I did say I after moving my boat notice it never had the end hose filter on the pipe, and that I undone the hose area where the pipe joins both sides of the oil cooler and there was weed/algae on the first mesh and the second mesh was clear other side of the oil cooler. I will post these photos once Tony has got back to me regards the wear on the cover plate.
  6. Tony I can 100% confirm that the core had impeller rubber in it but clear of any weeds, in fact the whole system was clear of weeds, I held the Heat exchanger core to the sun after using a fine jet to clean every tube and can confirm every tube was clear.
  7. Pump photos, I do have more of the whole pump if needed.
  8. TheBiscuits Thank you for the details and correction. Tony I saw a water drop fall from the front part of the water pump and I think I might have noticed it a few times before. When you say heat exchanger core do you mean the round tube with the thin copper pipes encased in it? Photos to follow.
  9. Impella video with inlet bar. Just a note I have taken the whole pump off and have it at home with me, to service and replace parts, again I ask can anyone link me to the impella I need to buy.
  10. Impella please can someone link to me the replacement I need to buy.
  11. Heat exchanger inside housing and outside rod, rubber was found in rod. I am posting lots of pics for people that might need info in the future, my way of paying back this forum for helping me.
  12. Video of rear water flushing Video outside boat checking flow I am willing to buy a filter I just can't seem to find one. and yes I have a pic of the inside hose.
  13. It worked for 4 years nothing got in, the algae surrounds it and acts like a membrane only reason I now have this problem is after 4 years the metal bolt I used to connect the flask to the pipe corroded and this is why I have this problem now, all happened during the last move I made 4 weeks ago, I did not notice no filter was on the pipe until after I had moved.
  14. Water pump photos A question the two brass caps are they supposed to be fully tightened or tightened over time to push grease in to the pump?
  15. Diy boat filter, the flask from amazon and the red thing a rubber glove, used cable ties to join to pipe as last filter a metal bolt melted over the years.
  16. I have just got back and have loads of photos and videos, I will upload them and link to youtube the videos, I am going to try put them in some order and things changed as I progressed, for example I might say I can't get this off and then in another video I got it off. I will upload in stages to try keep some order so part one will be when I arrived and I will show you the water filter for interest, all videos will be numbered as a reference. I have done more then I thought I could have done, and it is all down to all of you who have replied in this thread, it might not have looked like I paid attention but I took it all in. Ok roast dinner time, then I will add media.
  17. Tony I have the gasket and will soon be going to the boat, I have made up two scoops to remove the water oil mix under engine to get better photos and I have printed two of your longer posts so I can read while I am on the boat and in some of the cases act on. Alan I have one of them it was on the boat when I bought it, only problem is it will be in my shed, hopefully. Harold I won't walk away from this thread I will make sure it is updated so anyone in the future can reference it, also I want to get more knowledge of my boat so will stick around after it gets fixed.
  18. Thanks Alan I will rig up a mirror that will allow me to watch flow while moving the boat. Mad Harold, I have placed an order for brass mesh, could not get 2mm got 2.5mm, thanks for the information, I got enough to mess about with. Mad Harold
  19. I am up for buying a pump and replace it then service the old pump, have you any idea of where and what pump to order, or best wait until I get more detailed photos?
  20. The Filter does work I agree it is not the best filter, I am not trying to save money I just could not find a filter that would do the job, Tony said it is in an area that would draw in weeds and that I found to be very true, and the first flask filter I made got covered in like a algae and this in fact offered a finer filtration I noticed even though it got cover the water came in through it and I had a nice flow, every once in a while I would give it a few wipes with my deck broom and carry on, this lasted 4 years without issue. I do feel this is the area that the water for the heat exchanger/engine is coming in and agree that I should put in place a isolation valve and strainer once I get better photo I would take suggestions on how to go about this. My Boat
  21. The boat is a Norman 23, the engine I was told when I bought it is a thornycroft 108, but also was told on this forum that it was a BMC 1.8D in a post I made back in 2018. The filter from the river hose coming out the back of the boat I did explain that it was a DIY job made by me as there was no other filter on that hose when I bought the boat, I did try a mesh filter but it clogged up within hours, so used a metal flask with holes drilled into it. I apologize if I am not offering up enough information, I just got a bit overwhelmed with the information and diagrams, but very grateful for it and am now getting a better understanding of what I need to do When I get the thermostat gasket I hope today, I did say I will take pics of all the areas of the engine. I appreciate all the help
