  1. Thank you so much for this lvely insite - We definitely want to stick at this, we have been online found some more information and think we have found our issue, and have ordered a new part - fingers crossed we can get it to work! if not I'll re-try jackson, its just a shame they couldn't find our booking. Thank you for some hope! Many thanks! Shall get the husband to give them a call! Much appreciated
  2. Will have another ring round tomorrow, alot of people will deal with Aga but not an Aga rayburn, which I though was the same thing. Shall keep trying
  3. The boat is based in Northwich so hopefully we can find someone
  4. Sadly we tried that, and ourselves arnt much help! Seems hard work to find anyone who van come out and service the Rayburn
  5. Yeah, the boiler rprovides the heat to the radiators, it's on our boat Parbella.. Effingham was our old boat we sold last year. The heating pump works fine, it's to do with the actual Rayburn itself. We've tested the electrics to it which all seem to work but think a relay or something has gone. We are no expecta in Rayburns so really need to try and find someone to come out and look at it.
  6. Hi, Wondering if anyone can help us our Rayburn boiler has suddenly stopped working (cooker side is still working fine) but I'm struggling to find anyone who will come out and fix the it. We had one comonay, Jackson of Preston who haven't us down - somehow they lost our booking... Its our only source of heat we have no fire and don't have a shore line so can't relay on electric heating, so urgently need it fixing. Many thanks!
  7. We are looking for another historic boat however, BIRMINGHAM is not the one for us, no matter how lovely she is :)
  8. Not yet, on the look our for another historic boat, but have to sell one to buy another. :)
  9. Thank you! I have had a second attempt today. They look better. But I still can't grasp the middle string, how to do the top part.
  10. Thanks for everyones help, here's my first attempt at the cabin strings. Have started one a second one. (Image with red background) This time have to make my crowning more even.
  11. I will let you know how it all goes
  12. How willing are you to shear these Looks like we are planning a trip in April to look at the archives in Chester, definitely will be interesting.
  13. Hi Pete, We have a photo of her with some on, this is what has inspired me to get practising them. Will have to wait an see how they turn out.
  14. Hi Pete, I have just logged into Devs emails, and he feels quite foolish he somehow has missed the yard number! The timeline on the Effy site is based off what you had sent him. I believe his dad printed a shorten version and laminated it for him to keep on Effingham, which is the one I used to put on the website. This is the first time I have seen this and shall now however definitely be updating the timeline with all the information you sent him! In regards to how you found this information, I have found that Cheshire archives have copies of vessel registration from the Pimblotts yard. Have you been to see these?
  15. It's the first time i'v heard of them. I will have to flick through the website. Unforuntly London is a little far for me! Hopefully we are planning a trip on the themes next year. So there will be a lot of backwards an forwards on trains whilst we get the boat there. Might be a nice diversion for a couple of hours or so.
  16. I'v had a quick flick through his videos. There are a few good ones which i'v saved for later. After tackling these cabin strings for Effingham. Think my next project is maybe fenders.
  17. I remember visiting rope makers in Hawes when I was a child. Never thought at that point I would be interested in rope or even living on a boat! Looks like a trip is to be planned. Just want to learn as much traditional boat work as possible.
  18. I will have a look and see if I can find a pdf version before I buy the book, or have a hunt for it in a book store.
  19. Sadly on their site it says the are closed till the end of Febuary
  20. This is amazing, its very interesting too see the different lengths an thickness the used for straps and other thing. It gives an real insight to the olden days boating. It's brilliant what you can find when you start digging through archives.
  21. I have bought some 12mm cotton rope from http://www.ropeservicesuk.com/. 20 meters worth. Hopefully it is here before we set sail Friday to head to Audlum. Will have a look and see if I can find The Ashley Book of Knots. The more books the better
  22. Yes will be going to the port at easter. Very happy to be taught any sort of rope work, and how to improve it. - Thank you
  23. Brillant Thank you! I already have a knot book, but it didn't really have much traditional work in it.
  24. Hi All, There are a few things in which we would like to find out about NB Effingham and we are looking for anyone with any information. 1 - Photos, We originally had quite a lot of photos of Effingham, but on losing a phone lost a handful of photos which we can no longer seem to find. One, in particular, is Effingham on the Runcorn arm. However, any photos of her are very much appreciated. We are trying to get her looking back to how she first was, but handy to have more images. 2 - Pimblott plans for Admiral Class boats. As well as we are looking for Effingham build number. We have an image of the plate (Image is attached "ISAAC_PIMBLOTT.PNG") which we believe is what Effingham would have had on her. Would like to either find original or have a one replicated, but need the build number for this. Any documents or image would be very much appreciated. We do already have some information and a timeline set up on Effingham website from some of her past, including the video of her going up Anderton Boatlift. http://nbeffingham.co.uk/time-line/ We would like to thank anyone in advance for any information, documents or even images or anything they have to help towards under covering Effingham history. Everything we find will be shared on Effingham website nbeffingham.co.uk
