  1. Yep they certainly do and like here there are lots of positives and negatives.
  2. It's personal taste/choice really though isn't it, although mine was just a passing comment and I think it is true some would want to do it. It happens with all sorts of transport- cars, trucks, ships, motorbikes, scooters, aircraft, the list goes on. If someone wants to do that its ok but you wont have the purists on side but that's ok too. The picture I quoted initially is what I would like but it would have to be made as a one off bespoke design as opposed to chopping out 12ft from an older boat. Just a personal choice.

  4. Love this boat, I want exactly this at about 58' then convert the loading area.
  5. Have you tried this group on facebook hail https://www.facebook.com/groups/408369335988386/
  6. Thank you for your offer that is very kind. However heading further down the Chesterfield limits my travel when I'm generally only available to sail a couple of days a week, although I had have a look on google and it looks very nice. The furthest I have travelled on the Chesterfield is only to Drakeholes tunnel.
  7. Hi Rose apologies, yes it's for a narrow boat, no more than 58' on the Waterside mooring site there is a space available in front of the pub £1855'ish seems like a lot to me but I am a tight Yorkshireman. I am considering Goole Boathouse and Thorne is just starting to be silly money in comparison, ideally I want to be no more than 45 minutes from the Brigg area especially if I need to do some work on the boat. I do like the clubby type mooring ethos but I don't really want to commit to work party's and the like although it depends on what is required in return for the cheaper mooring. I wont be one to just go sit on the boat in a marina, I want to be out and about.
  8. Gringley Lock, my second ever lock
  9. Can anyone give any info on permanent mooring at Stockwith Basin ie security and general feel for the place?

    Ruston Hornsby

Hi just wondering if anyone could give me any info, heads up, tips when using or tips when buying good or bad on the Ruston Hornsby 2YD. I have looked on the engine listing web page and it gives me bore and stroke dims. and basic layout and thats all I can find on it. Many thanks
  11. Yep you're correct, capstan was the term used when I did my helmsman course- wrongly evidently.
  12. You understood though, which is the main thing but yes, meant stern dolly
