  1. been shut since Sunday morning (27th August) and not due to re open until Wednesday earliest
  2. Apparantley this has been shut since midday Sunday. Engineers on site but no news on whether it will be working today or tomorrow.
  3. apologies if this has been mentioned before, but I came across this program on the bbc Iplayer the other day. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p01rwfkm/nairn-across-britain-2-transpennine-canal found it very interesting
  4. Love the period fireplace. Out of a lot properties featured on this post, this is one I would consider (ie, realistically in my price range, and a genuinely nice property).
  5. Have just come downstream and that narrow boat is back in the water and moored downstream of Goring, on the bend before the railway bridge.
  6. Anyone know the story behind this sight spotted today at Wallingford on the river Thames
  7. I only just realised my BSS was about to run out when I went to renew my EA license on the Thames, so I now have to get one done. I firstly spoke to the marina, as I need to go down and prepare the boat for the BSS exam. Was told by them that it is fine to come down to the boat and also fine for the examiner to come at anytime. I personally think this kinda makes a mockery of this lockdown and all it is trying to achieve, but it does mean it can get a certificate done at some stage. I am personally not rushing to do this, and the EA can wait for me to renew
  8. it's at the boat yard just north of Grove Lock marina in case anyone knows the area.
  9. I have been driving due to work near to Leighton Buzzard, and keep passing a section of the grand union that has a small looking boat yard in the distance. Although it was on the hard, and not in the actual water, I was very surprised to see what looks like a 36ft Sealine Flybridge sat there! Anyone in the area know anything about it, as I suspect it didn't get there by water? It just seems strange to see that type of boat there
  10. " in Goring 300yds below lock on right hand side it said to put £10:00 in envelope and put it in letterbox which was attached to a large fenced off house, it said all monies went to charity. The site previously ( I thought) was a EA site. " I think the place you are refering to is in Sonning. It was Uri Gellars old house and he apparantley gave the money to a local dogs charity. He has since moved, and funnily enough the new owner has pass over the collection of moorings fees to... ...the same company that run the moorings at Reading.
  11. is this the boat that many people are talking about.
  12. Thanks for this info, we are currently moored up in Staines waiting for it to be fixed, so please update with any news when you get it
