  3. Wow thanks. We did get a taxi to go and collect our car. Now we're doing round trips from Blackpool between rainstorms trying to get this boat into a reasonable condition.

  6. Ah, know the red lion. Our preference rather than top lock pub. We're pre occupied getting this viking canal worthy at the mo. Should have looked closer when buying it last week 😳. Sikaflex and fibreglass kit is helping!

  9. Well we picked up our boat from Accrington and should by now be on the Lancaster canal. Are we just unlucky.... Major work was about to commence on a lock at Wheelton, we just missed getting through and the closure may run to two weeks. Just found out that the top lock at Wigan is also closed now. Still, gave us some time to find all the faults and go through them.
  10. Can i just say... What a great site this is, I've been a member for a few years now. Any questions or worries re boating are answered with enthusiasm and quickly too. Theres nothing that can't be addressed here. Stark contrast to a certain boat owners club I've just joined 'at cost' ;-( Thank you Canal World 😅
  11. Another good idea, I'll have to try and work out if drilling will lead into the void below floor level or just end up into solid fibre... 🤔
  12. It's rough fibreglass and is in no way hollow sounding when I hit it, sounds solid. Theres a 'keel' below that probably runs below the area of the inspection hole ( not measured where it ends).
  13. Like most attempts to vac all the water out it keeps re appearing as is seeps rearward. Still, I've been busy raising the tank tray 10" and making a new HIGH outlet. Also been grinding out all the spider cracks in the Hull as piece of mind seeing as the boats out of the water..
  14. I'd say there's a double skin down there, I'm avoiding the urge to drill the inspection hole deeper though.
  15. True. Was enough to come up n soak the carpet though, maybe I'm not reaching what's in the vee section, the inspection hole only goes down a couple of inches then bottoms out into fibreglass.
  16. I cruised it 8hrs on the first day then moored a couple.
  17. It's convid puppy fat. The boat has been low in the water, I recon the living space bilge was holding about 4 gals
  18. Good point, the prop is stiff to turn, I'll investigate while it's on hard standing
  19. Haha love a bit of water skiing, bigger the wake the better. I fantasize of skiing the Leeds n Liverpool often. Can it be done behind a narrowboat I wonder
  20. Who makes Tohatsu? Often wondered if they're part of another company, guessing Japanese so can't be any worse than any other motor. As for the leak, I've made steel legs and raised the fuel tank tray 10", outlet well above water now. Being a cynic I'm still thinking that was far too easy a cure for a big water leak 😞 Today we are grinding out and filling lots of spider web cracks in the gel coat under the Hull, although I'm hoping these wouldn't let that amount of water in, in a day (about 4 gals)
  21. Hi all, My 10hp Honda outboard stalls when going into gear when hot or cold from idle, the idle speed seems OK. Plugs? Any thoughts?
