  6. The boat had already traveled well out of reach before we knew it...honestly its shocking with all that inertia and i dare not stick it into reverse. It all happens so fast and your powerless. We pull her in now for any lock. She is a bit dopey being a frenchie (not renowned for brains) I just worry about the pressure of water drawing her down and through a paddle...ive seen a video of a leaking lock gate draw a human towards it let alone from an open paddle. Im sure your decisions are safe but im overly cautious i guess Pics of her now as an adult and as a pup on our motor cruiser (salty boat)
  7. Its is lovely having a dog loose on the roof running about or laying with you but a tale for you that happened to our frenchie. Nala jumped in randomly....doesn't really like water all that much but if your in she will come in....but the lure of a log floating was too much and she just whilst under way dived in....off the back of the stern too. So i quickly drop the boat into neutral as to avoid the prop cutting her to shreds but we travelled a considerable distance away. Now she had a grab vest type thing with a handle but frenchies are not the best swimmers anyhow. Here was the problem however she swam to the edge not the boat and whilst you would think not an issue it was the coventry canal with miles of armco she could not scale and started to panic and sink. I almost jumped in to swim over but thankfully a passer by ran over and dragged her out. My heart was pounding as she would of drowned even with a vest (heavy heads can cause them to sink head first) From that point she was either in the engine room of the trad or on the roof in arms reach blocking her from going further forward. She is now more trustworthy on board and is cautious from her experience. Just a thought to consider with canal sides etc Thank God for that person they could see we were very shaken. Lesson learnt. Always lock her away in a lock!!!!!
  8. Quite simple and a nice project to make your own and it won't cost £90 odd !!!!!
  9. Did you run it smelly? just trying to remember if it was your good self i got my victron inverter from as the person i purchased that from had opened it or run it if i recall! Very nice people and inverter was a peach (cracking boat too very jealous)
  10. Yes you get FFP1/2/3 donated by different coloured bands FFP3 will protect you against asbestos fibres and silica dust bacteria etc The statement about a one way valve is not strictly always true depending on style of mask you purchase and application. Some have mushroom style vents with filters you breath in through and an filter piece directly in front of the mouth the exhale or vice versa. Im a mask fit tester so know a bit about masks. Good link to see what masks can protect against https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://www.uvex-safety.com/fileadmin/www.uvex-safety.com/Media/catalogues_and_brochures/en/uvex_respiratory_protection_guide_PPE_EN.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwiBv-TahLvpAhWLURUIHWO7Aq8QFjAAegQIBRAB&usg=AOvVaw1Lj3E0g-SBFtH-jIN54ufA
  11. How do you know that? I'm 36 and I've done a lot seen a lot and went through some serious crap before the age of 13 so.....she has an opinion, you certainly do so she is due hers as you are yours. Just because your older does not mean yours should be listened to any more than hers, in fact yours are perhaps more deeply entrenched due to age so perhaps it is you who is less able to open yourself up to conflicting opinions and your ability to see both sides...note i said perhaps.
  12. Wow ok, so a child as you put it because they are not an adult has no say....or right to an opinion. ? I dont understand what this comment really reflects or refers too.
  13. Wow we are all allowed a viewpoint...i get that, its a discussion but id love to see you stand in front of her and say all this stuff folks, i couldn't hurt someone feelings like that....you all need to have an argument or something cuz there is some serious attitudes towards her here. If i was sat in my house and a dog came up to the windows jumping at them barking or scratching at them id have a thing to say and so would you I'm sure....so if it is true and I'm sure it is i know emma and her mum as im one of these (ex) youtubers we've met (and yes i always worked very hard not a jobless uneducated bum) then they have every right to complain. Don't like watching don't do it and try not to rip her apart as she may be on this forum. This is supposed to be a place for knowledge and celebrating a common passion. If that was my boat and i was there and that happened to me id be polite the first time asking them to please stop there dogs jumping at the windows... the second again id ask poltely but as my pride and joy was being potential damaged and my health put at risk id let them know they are pushing there luck the third. You all discussed in depth about how its dangerous to travel and against government guidance etc but for this its her fault she should move....they are not in front of the house, they do not engage with the home of these people, they are just trying to live there life and keep safe. Honestly sometimes i wonder where all those lovely people on the cut are that I've met and would do anything to help others.......not here obviously. (No not true I've met a few on here and they were perfectly lovely).....try it!
  14. I watched this vid earlier funnily enough, nice little boat and love the idea of a flooding hull just like on the avon searider rib. Nice vessel.
  15. Agree, i think its been very clear....stay at home no travel unless essential. Medical, shopping, work. work from home unless a key worker and implement sensible safety measures in active workplaces. Why is that wooly.....i don't get why this advice has gotten such a beat down No i do its because people don't like it. New advice we all know and detail followed in short order after the tv announcement. Workplaces start to open, open space activities start to return. What is being forgotten here is each industry can not be molly coddled by the government so responsible organisations are left to build the finer details and rightly so.... So lets all give a hand for the unprecedented actions, financial support and tough choices forced upon this government. Regardless of your political persuasion they have been good in my opinion and im proud of what this country has achieved and for the most part the level of good will and compliance from all. Only those who like to question and trip up for no real reason other than because they can feel enough is never enough. No offence needed here i mean this in good will and is just my opinion....we need to remember we all have a common love here and its boating so lets support rather than be obtuse just because.

  18. Agreed but the authorities have decided to allow it...CRT have just not released there say so yet... If you are on a lockless stretch and want to cruise then id do it and to hell with all those nosey curtain twitchers with nothing better to do. You would not be breaking the law as it stand surely? You are using a pleasure craft which the governments latest advice sais you can. Its not unclear it is in black and white..... Just dont stay overnight. Its something folks
  19. I disagree, what boris said was the headlines....he can't be expected to give precise details (he may not even fully understand that's for scientists, advisors etc to nestle out) on air or it would of taken a very long time so they release a paper and take questions....what do you want him to do spoon feed us all? He is doing a bloody tough job in unprecedented times and i for one clap the governments efforts on this. The money given to support us is again huge and will damage us for a long time but its a necessity that ultimately we will all have to pick up the cost for so wanting more means paying more back in the long run. They are doing what they practicably can and i truly believe that. All oppositions will opose what is said....its there job and is just political scoring. Im out of a job and shit scared of my financial position but like 1000's of others i have to nut up and shut up and take what help is offered and help myself out of this. He made sense in the press conference, i clearly understood what was said and that questions and detail will follow.

  21. That's a lot to eat through in such a short time...galvanic isolater fitted/working? Are you hooked up to marina electrics?
  22. Hi all, our boat used to have a gas heating system but was removed by the previous owner due to a fault that i later found out was not even £50 to fix so all existing rads etc in place....now ive looked at heating options over and over and kept an eye out for new solutions over a few years but i keep coming bk to the idea of a small stove installed just forward of the engine room bulkhead in a storage area by the bedroom... In your opinions is this the best option for CC cost wise... (potential to travel for a few years on board) i cant stomach the huge costs of a webasto or ebber plus faults and running etc??? Just looking for something to heat the back end of the boat slightly during colder months....also cost wise and installation (proffesional) will it even be more cost effective? Thoughts folks if you dont mind ???
