Have you contacted your insurer? Most have an emergency helpline for these situations.

That’s the type I used to replace my ancient (so old it had no FFDs) Vanette hob. I had to enlarge the worktop hole a little. The Thetford one is a bit “tinny” in comparison, but works OK.
Yes the Vanette was built like a tank in comparison but in the Thetfords favour it does have a flame failure device fitted, now a BSS requirement for new fittings.

Our Vanette hob gave gave up the ghost last year and I when looking for a replacement this Thetford was the nearest in size I could find https://www.midlandchandlers.co.uk/products/thetford-8-series-lpg-hob-unit-n480 I only had to make minor adjustments to the work surface to make it fit.

Someone once said to me 'If they're not insulted by your first offer - it's not low enough" 😂. Let's face it apart from the kitchen and bathroom it's basically a shell... and what's that paper on the kitchen walls hiding? I think it's probably worth 28k-30k tops but as others would remark, it's worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it.

If the boat is Kestrel I would say the electrics looks shonky with exposed cabling going to the 240v sockets and what looks like 240v switches for the lighting. Also I'd want to deal with the finance company, not just the person who took out the loan because you want to ensure the loan is not outstanding once you purchase (sic) the boat.

Some of the brokers I visited when buying (in 2016) seemed to have separated the wheat from the chaff and kept the chaff!

Your insurance company may be able to advise you about this.

It's probably worth noting that Apple changed the chipset in their MacBooks last year from Intel to a proprietary chip the M1 which might be good news for the OP as there'll be more secondhand supply as folks upgrade. The downside being the old chipset will be unsupported sometime earlier in the future than it might have been and newer programs may be incompatible with it.

thanks guys!

If the boat doesn't have a bubble tester is it best to get a surveyor who is GasSafe registered to do the BSS?

No mention of BSC date, has it lapsed?
Evidently not blacked since launch
Possible signs of damage toward the bow so not really 'like new'
Not negative comments merely observations

I believe if you transfer data from the internal memory in a Android phone to the phones SD card it will be encrypted so you can't just take the card out of the phone and then have it read by a computer.

Linda at Cheshire Cat Training was very good at showing us the ropes, so to speak, when we were starting out.

You may already know this but in case you don't, the outer lock at the river entrance to Brunswick Dock is currently under repair. It should be fixed by mid May. I have an old email address for Stuart which might still be current. It is manchestermarineatbtinternet.com (remove the man and replace the at with @)

Just over an hour ago I looked at the manual Excellence on Amazon and it was £104 just looked again and it's now showing at £139 ?. I can only assume that's something to do with their pricing algorithm.

Thanks Bill
So buying two to get the spare cassete would mean you had a spare top half? would you keep that for spare parts?
Thanks for the replies everyone. Annoyingly, when I got the boat there was a new portpotti, which I promptly sold 'I won't be needing that!' I thought. That'll teach me.
Interesting that no-one has any real negatives about either model/type, which is good, so I'll have to start shopping around now and see exactly what costs what.
Thanks again
Yes have kept it for spares. Both types are available on Amazon.

Looks like Thetford have discontinued the C200. The cost of 1 electric Excellence and 1 manual (the cassettes are interchangeable) works out cheaper than the cost of the C200.
-
We have the Thetford Excellence with electric flush which has proved reliable over 3 years we've had it. Only problem is we had to buy 2 to get a spare cassette as Thetford doesn't sell them separately.
