Sorry, i am not sure what you mean, i am currently looking for a boat, and of course they are all in places like Stoke Bruerne.

I have plenty of sailing experience, but narrow boats and canals are foreign territory.

Gamebird is 26', not really suitable for liveaboard. (and not for sale  ) No harm in looking, though.

There are quite a few liveaboards at Ratho, Pierre, who lives on Loch Ness, a white wooden cruiser, ( pierrepotel@yahoo.fr) might be the best contact for introductions.

There are a few boats for sale at Auchenstarry, but I'm not sure if any are narrowboats. There's usually someone around the hire fleet at the Wheel, but they are designed for hiring to the maximum number of people, and the layout isn't really suitable for living aboard, as saloon and galley space is sacrificed for sleeping cabins. 

Edinburgh Quay and Lochrin basin might be worth a wander round as well: there's usually someone  around
