I have just been told by a very fed-up CRT contractor that Elsan disposal points that are not part of an area offering other facilities, such as rubbish disposal / water point, will be closed down. Apparently one at Braunston is on the closure list. Has anyone else heard this?

Thanks for that. So sitting staring at water is exercise but sitting on a bench drinking a coffee is not permitted!!!

Having suffered the abuse yesterday of two men carrying fishing rods, merely because I came round a corner and surprised them in their pursuit of torturing live animals, I was tempted to tell them the covid rules but realised I was not confident in understanding them. Then I was listening to our beloved leader last evening saying that at the end of next month, you can sit on a bench with one other person for a coffee and resume sport etc. I realised then I have been right to have felt objection over the last weeks when I have seen an endless stream of folk on the towpath sitting having drinks, snacks and full picnics and certainly of fishing people either alone or in pairs. So what are the rules ? Are all these people committing crimes? And if so, why is there no enforcement on the canals?

Our first boat was a 40ft Simolda and we loved it. The wooden roof had been covered with steel by a previous owner. It had sunk at its mooring due to owner being hospitalised. We bought it 20 years ago for £5000 after a hull survey. Once dried out, the Lister engine started first time and ran without a fault until we sold it four years later.

After that sad comment from Loddon, I must add that someone went to find and tell the mother of the child and after all had warmed up, the family made a point of warmly thanking those that were still around.
