  1. Yep. When it get warm over here and if I have to work outside I soak my hat in cold water regularly. I dont go to the lengths of soaking all my clothes though. Drink lots and do as little as possible in the sun.
  2. Over here its reasonably common for limbs to fall from trees in the dry season, so much so the trees are kicknamed widow makers. Its usually Gum trees that do this and they do it to preserve water. Don’t know if the same trait applies to European trees but its just a thought. We never camp/park under these trees not only to avoid falling braches but also avoid the very high risk of coming back to find the vehicle covered in bird/bat poo.
  3. On our trips back ‘home’ I always greet other boaters (and sometime towpath occupants) but I have to confess that my greetings to moored boaters is more akin to the nod greeting than a full blow wave etc, simply because it feels more of a potential invasion of privacy. I might wave at people through their gardens in our street because I know them but I wouldn’t be so inclinded to wave at people a few miles up the road say

  22. I had heard that the fat content from the milk over here is a lot different due to the quality (or lack of) of the grass. Whether this is true or not I have no idea. Sourcing Jersey or Guernsey over here is quite difficult and certainly not widely available (or at all) in the shops. Might be a different story down south where the dairy stock can be a bit more varied as the climate is a bit more forgiving. Looks like it will restricted to be treats for our visits home, now that we are allowed to leave the country.
  23. Sadly the 3 attempts over the Xmas break (all different recipes) failed to do much 🙁. Didn't come out much different to how it started. It's thick enough to keep its shape on a spoon (barely) but the stuff I remember from the farm round the corner from my Nan's was thick enough that you could put a spoon in it and the spoon would stay upright in the pot.
  24. As somebody whose glasses (the reading type) are getting thicker by the year, I personally welcome it
