  1. The Avon is a great river. Comes up very quickly in times of flood/high water and would imagine its up at the moment if the Severn above Worcester yesterday was anything to go by.
  2. Lots of locks and Gosty Tunnel to get to our friends at Hawne though ?
  3. They're not open Sundays. I believe Norbury is though.
  4. Not a bad idea to carry a spare. One advantage you have is that whilst you have one working you can buy your spare at lesure at a competitive price. Most people get caught when having tobuy one. A bit like starter motors. For prompt and reasonable repairs/refurbish then Colin at Stones Auto Electrics in Kidderminster is a gem. Proper old school workshop and diagnostics c/w knowledge and a cheery smile..
  5. Thats a lot of locks on that shortish stretch :-) When were you planning to move the boat?
  6. Mickey Banks is Soar based currently or I could do it or crew with you. 07836 585506
  7. The protests are laughable. Its not that many years ago that the centre of Swindon was dominated by Richard Thomas and Baldwins, aka RagTag and Bobtail, steelworks. The industrial estates of nearby Wombourne almost touch it anyway and it has 2 supergrid power lines installed in 1968 going over it. Having said all that I would consider mooring there as well.
  8. They say - Many considerable engine manufacturers around the world belong to our costumers for years. Do they keep it in the 'dressing up' box or what :-)
  9. Yes Nickoll and Perks still there and owned and run by the Gardner family. My long time friend Tim Robbins is marketing man there and organises the various gin and whisky fairs they they hold. He is also in charge of the tours and tasting. A very useful man to know. They are also customers of mine as I look after their data networks and comms.
  10. Thanks Martin. I can see the relay box drawn on those. Sadly it doesn't make one appear :-)
  11. Many thanks for that Tony. Will be going through process next time I am there. I have found the multiway joined to another on top of the engine but sadly no separate relay box. Only relay found is what I assume to be the heater relay. All very annoying.
  12. Many thanks for your comments Tony, I have been following other posts of yours as well. All very helpful. Excuse my ignorance but what is a 'Sterling' ? I inherited a right mess as regards engine control panel. It is a 1992 boat with a Canalstar 36 HP which has a Thornycroft control panel with nothing working intrument wise apart from the water temperature gauge that eventually rises after some work. The tacho is without its mounting hardware obviously removed when a previous owner was messing and oil doesn't register nor does the alert sounder which is taped some 6 inches down the cable.!!! The alternator lamp looks like an add on as it impedes the square seating of the tacho and the ammeter also is dead. If starting at low revs then the alternator light comes on and the tacho stays at Zero, a blip on throttle will let the light go out and the tacho goes and sits at around 1600 RPM solid regardless of engine speed. Seems it is all back to the W connection to me. I am minded to change the engine control panel a) for my OCD and as a sparks its not a good advert. What is available as a replacement control panel for an LPWS4 engined boat?
  13. A post of enlightenment there above I have a Canalstar LPWS4 that does exactly that with the charge lamp as well as a tacho that stays in one place after moving when the charge light goes out. I shall probe further around alternator and W connection now. Thanks
