  1. Hi. Herbert Woods and the other hirers will tell you which of their boats can't get under (in my experience). And you need to use the Pilot too. I've only hired the old style sliding roof boats which a pretty low and go under ok.

You will be required to use a pilot anyway.

The pilot won't take a boat that wont fit. The boat description should say if it will fit under the bridge in normal conditions.

Cross-posted with you there. Agree completely.

  2. - statistically overwhelmingly victims of poor driving behaviour in which drivers are at fault - for the inability of drivers to manage the lethal machinery they sit inside/upon.

Anyone who posts this when the comments were about the impact of kids running out into the road with no notice in front of law abiding motorists won't be paying any attention. Already made their minds up without bothering about the circumstances. Motorists are evil.

  3. Sounds good that you are already familiar with boating and not just looking for a cheap London pad. Look here www.watersidemooring.com. Sure you have seen it already, but netherless there have been London residential moorings listed here over the last few months. Good luck.

  4. She does look lovely. Also, do you have any experience of boating? Holiday hires perhaps? I've always loved our waterways but will never convince Mrs J to live on them. It's very different to a house or flat and you will need to understand and be happy with the compromises.

  5. Welcome to the forum. I like the look of the boat. But 85k wide beams are way out of my experience. However it's not about age. The condition and fit out much more so. Experts will be along and they will agree you need a full buyers survey to confirm condition and value before considering parting with that sort of money....

  6. Boat hire fleets don't expect their hirers to obsess about battery charging. The most common call-out for Valley Cruisers used to be 'The telly has stopped working and all the lights have gone dim'. Service engineer would drive out with a new battery and give a gentle lecture on cruising hours versus tv watching. Two days later they'd be back on the phone.

I have never had that problem with any hire boat (Thames, Broads or canals). But my idea idea of a boating holiday is to cruise for more than 5 hours a day. Only a problem now we have our own boat. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to do same on our boat but unfortunately need to hold down a full time job to pay for it :(

I would agree with that suggestion. For 5 hours you'll be saying "Oh look, 14.4V"

    :)
