How would it look any different if it were a vee hull? Just because it's not a Springer doesn't mean it can't be v bottom ..
My friends boat has a vee bottom, it's only a couple of inches , but it is impossible to tell from just looking at it in the water, never mind on pictures...
There are other designs of oil rig lifeboat more suited to canals than this one. And he sells them for under 8k usually.
I remember about 5 or 6 years ago, lifeboats were going for 2000-3000 pounds(sometimes less).
I quite like them. Stay on the canal system for a while, then out to sea if you want.

Depends if you can find a welder who is brave enough to weld them without removing the paneling and insulation.
Then you will need to be docked or craned out, not a nice job to attempt while afloat.
The last 'D section' I bought worked out at £1 a foot .
+1 for the cheap eBay thingy. As said above just leave it connected to a 12 v battery until you get to the required value. Mines working great, only problem was it took 6 weeks to get here!
