  1. I bought a sabb 2j from Marine Enterprises, Dorset a couple of years ago. Sean there had 2 complete engines and 4 more stripped for parts. As part of the sale of the engine to me, he replaced the water pump diaphragm. So I think he would be worth a try. http://www.marineenterprisesltd.co.uk/

  3. Have you looked into solar panels? Other than that it would be a decent suitcase genny.
  4. I have a little parweld inverter welder. It's smaller than a toaster but will still run 3.2 rods easily. Rods are available on eBay, 20kg for around £45. That's a lot of welding. Remember with stick you pull towards you, not push away ;).
  5. I just had a check back in, looks like they have got the engine going.
  6. Needs some handrails on the cabin, and that back bit of cabin wants taking off and some gunnels adding. Wonder if that engine can be saved? Looks like a petter.
  7. Not when you hand a stranger the keys and expect to be paid in instalments, over the next so many months. (Not saying this has happened in this case) As is always said on here, boat theft is never as simple as it first appears.
  8. Possession is nine-tenths of the law.. I would not let my boat go until I had the money in the bank..
  9. I watch eBay listings for narrowboats. Before the covid, there were over 100 narrow boat listings and these would change regularly. Now there are 17 and most of these have been on for months.
  10. That's how I read it. Refurbished Beta JP2 Diesel Marine Engine inc Borg Warner gearbox (Price inc VAT) . It's in the first line of the description.
  11. Jp4 currently at 20quid, 4 days left. Ebay link

  15. I once had a boat that looked like that, it was from the 70s , the builders plate said something like 'canal and river craft, Sowerby Bridge ' to the best of my memory. But the boat looked just like that at the back. It had a fibre glass top and quite a high bow.
  16. Fill 25 litre drums up with red at a local oil supplier and put it in the tank. Who is going to check ? Just wondering...
  17. Or a 3rd of one.. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lister-JP1-Generating-Set-4-5KW-CS-9-1-Stationary-Engine/283921056274?hash=item421b038212:g:UP0AAOSwR3le7i5-
  18. Just today I had to climb on a neighbours boat because a fisherman across the canal had got his hook stuck in the back canopy... told him to move on before he did any more damage.
