  1. I'd never heard of the Oxfordshire river before I joined this forum but I associated the name Isis with the Egyptian god. Probably, rather tenuously, because I had a Hungarian girlfriend from Szombathely which has a reconstructed Roman temple dedicated to her. (Dedicated to the Egyptian god that is, not my ex girlfriend.)

  3. There's also the question of whether the mppt controller has been damaged by being connected this way. The OP started the thread because the system was not working as it had, rather than to query the quality of the workmanship.
  4. Apparently not. But if you're not too far from Wales you might be able to point your aerial in the direction of an appropriate transmitter and retune your device. Not that it'll do much good today as the programme has already been on.
  5. You did share the name, I assume inadvertently. You didn't crop the web address off the screen shot.
  6. I've no experience of these panels but reading the specs, the first ones certainly cope with partial shading well if all the talk of Maxim Panel Cell String Optimization is to be believed.
  7. I was about to say exactly that when your post popped up. However, if there's any electronicy wizardry between the two negatives, that may have been damaged and thus causing the problem.

    6V from 12

Use a buck converter. £5 from UK supplier, £2.25 from Hong Kong: https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m4084.l1313.TR3.TRC2.A0.H0.X12v+6v+b.TRS0&_nkw=12v+6v+buck+converter
  13. I guess you might mean this one which isn't very compact at all: https://www.screwfix.com/p/mcalpine-space-saving-sink-appliance-p-trap-white-40mm/66149?_requestid=254562 I do like these ones from Toolstation though but the reviews are hardly glowing: https://www.toolstation.com/espace-extra-flat-sink-trap-1-12/p54424#reviewTab

  15. My former neighbour's boat has ABC BOATS laser cut into the steel work. That wouldn't have pleased me at all.
  16. That must be someone else. Importantly, that kit includes one of those pressed steel exhausts with a drain hole so not suitable for most marine applications. Also, the Webasto hasn't been repainted and his feedback is percentage is poor.
  17. Toolstation and Screwfix do both solvent weld and push-fit/compression pipes and fittings. The two types are not compatible with each other except that solvent weld pipe will squeeze into compression fittings, but normally only by dismantling the fitting first.
  18. He often does full kits with lots of new parts, including a marine grade silencer, but that seems to be his only listing just now.
  19. So I was intrigued by the soapy water. For some reason I remembered that it was called 'slip solution' so I looked it up. (Funny how the mind can recall something useless from 29 years ago but can't remember the name of someone you were introduced to a minute earlier.) Reading up, it seems that a spray bottle of water with just a few drops of Fairy is best. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.t-shirtforums.com/vinyl-signs-decals/t46019.html%3famp=1
  20. I'm guessing you might mean water with washing up liquid in it. I've done this on a couple of vans and with window film. It works very well. I'm not sure that neat washing up liquid would work.

  22. Adrian Flux specialise in unusual and difficult cases but can be a bit pricey. Not sure if they will be able to help with this but worth a try if you haven't already. When I moved onto my boat I kept my motorhome registered at a friend's house and told the insurance company it was parked on the road on the other side of the city. They didn't question this at all but I'm effectively still registered as living there rather than a c/o address.

  24. And wear goggles. When those little wires fly out they can pierce skin, as I found out.
  25. Are you planning to start this now? It's not really the season.
