  2. Have to admit, it went well over my head, and Jim's as well I think.
  3. I've had a Halfords socket set with lifetime guarantee for around 35 years. I've only broken one socket and that was with the help of a scaffold pole. I broke the ratchet by whacking it with a club hammer. Thought about claiming on the guarantee but decided that if they asked for the receipt I'd have to leave with my tail between my legs. Watched this video of a guy testing ratchets to destruction recently. Language is a bit fruity in places:
  4. Ok. I'm confused. What does this mean? You can't mark batteries anymore? In what way would they have been marked in the past and why not now? I feel like I must be missing a joke or something but I can't see it. Edit. Jim beat me to it.
  5. I would stick to using proper coloured grout as Sam suggests. If you mix your own, you can't be sure what shade it will dry to or whether the colour will fade over time. Most tile shops have swatches that match the cured grout colour. Take a tile to the shop and see which colour works best with it.

  11. Probably never thought of it. But now it's on a public forum perhaps word will get around and all those nimbys on quayside developments can take advantage.

  18. I've never understood why they don't measure the thickness with the coating in place then use a paint thickness gauge and deduct the difference. Am I missing something?

  21. With a separate oven and hob you don't have to locate them together. If the oven is in a tall unit it's easier to access and you won't bang your head on the cupboard door you've just left open.
  22. Use flat-pack units and cut them to the desired depth before assembly. If you want to do it posh then router a new groove for the back panel, otherwise just screw the back panels to the back of the units. Don't cut the front off by mistake like I once did.
