  1. Saw this at the start of the post: 'Emily, on 05 Feb 2015 - 11:34 PM, said: On 2/5/2015 at 22:34, Emily said: Cheers everybody! It's really misty here today and I haven't had time to sand any antlers and, despite contriving excuses to prod people in the face, I sadly seem to have lost my electrical charge. Thank you all for your help' And yes it is old age, I didn't have my glasses on
  2. Ah, didn't look that far back. Article showed it as posted this year
  3. Afternoon all, Found this article posted on another forum. Couldn't find it on here, it's basically about the downside of overplating Would be interesting to get the view of others especially those who repair boats Apologies if it's been posted here before https://www.iims.org.uk/the-dangers-of-overplating/
  4. Would agree with Mr de Enfield. Having said that I used a surveyor as my knowledge of structural matters was limited. I would say at the very least take someone with a good working knowledge At least you're being realistic in realising that there will more than likely be some depreciation. Good luck
  5. Ronnie, I've got Chrisy's contact details if you need them
  6. Here's my pride and joy If you're on the Union or Forth&Clyde say hello and maybe give it (and the ugly git on the right steering it) a wide berth for the next couple of months
  7. OK, apologies for what will probably be a daft newbie question My boat engine is cooled by a water jacket around the stern which has what looks like an expansion tank. Can I increase/check anti-freeze levels or would I be better to drain it. I do plan to use it over the winter, I've got electric hook up and the seller left me with a couple of oil filled radiators for the cabins, I was planning to drain down the water tank after each use
  8. Well at least I didn't mention composting toilets
  9. How about offering it out as a 6 month rental while you're back home. If you had reasonable rental terms it means the boat is in use and might cover some of your costs as well
  10. Would also suggest if you sail solo source a jacket with an 'auto light'. You may go into the water in daylight but it might not be daylight if someone has to search for you. Also attach a whistle if it hasn't already got one. If you're in tidal waters you could cover ground quite quickly
  11. Cheers Haggis, When I eventually find a boat I shall ask SC and see what they say
  12. How long are you allowed to stay on SC moorings other than your own home mooring
  13. Thanks for that, Haggis was that your 'Gamebird' we saw at The Kelpies yesterday. Any idea of boats for sale at Auchinstarry?
