The 300 TDI engine was a good engine and usually when the belt went it wasn't catastrophic damage. I have repaired a few and generally its bent push rods and maybe a few snapped rockers, OHC engines are a different story. Military Defenders were non turbo mostly and running belts, that was when i worked on them in Bosnia back in the 90s. I have a Suzuki Vitara, wife a Suzuki SX4, both engines run on chains. Yes, Escort and Ford Orion, Escort vans from the 80/90s.

Agreed, but those engines were know for shredding belts, i have seen them go on engines that have 1000 miles from new causing huge damage when i worked for a main Ford dealer in the 80s.

Cam belt being the weak point on that engine.

That looks like a Ford to me.

Back in the 70s i used to paint arctic trailers with the Cadbury chocolate stickers and the Typhoo Gnu, remember them? Took 3 days to rub the trailers down and 1 day to paint then another day to apply the stickers, i hate painting trucks. Custom paint jobs on motorcycles was more my thing.

Painting is 95% preparation and 5% application.

Well maybe but she is always quoting about SML paints and how to do it then asking how to do stuff, seems odd to me. No offence intended but asking advice about painting boats while giving advice about painting boats seems strange, i know what i know and if not i dont offer advice.
