  1. Whilst i remember the two 3 rise locks are manned at the moment for anyone heading toward or out of leeds
  2. Went through leeds and i must say it was crap Between 2 drunks, a water taxi mooring at lock landing n a rude crt lockie at office lock they can jump on a spike for me. It wasnt till we got closer to the so called dangerous spot that it got BETTER. Long story short currently at rodley I like it here
  3. Currently in leeds will keep you guys posted where we stop and if they are any good
  4. right from what I have read I will make the assumption that I can leave the medieval weaponry at home and instead I should bring sweets, possibly kids sized swimming trunks and buckets of disinfectant (incase i touch a corpse)? am i missing anything?
  5. thank you for clarifying the "rough" spot and i will have to take some lessons from your wife! right well i was thinking of going from Leeds to rodley then having a boat day to top of bingley 5 rise but if its not a bad spot from rodley to bottom of bingley 3 rise then i might just stay somewhere inbetween. any recommendations would be appreciated.
  6. Hello, In less than one week me and my family are looking to go to Skipton for a week or two from Leeds direction and i have searched the forum and found this forum post. I am just curious is this still true? are those two towns / villages safe to moor at and if so where at these locations should i moor. I have heard that sometimes the locals like to loiter around locks and such and give people hastle is this true? thank you in advance. Lawzy
  7. hopefully they will see this and all will be well
  8. I think he / she was saying that the advice given lacked a definitive answer, it was just worded poorly. what they probably want to know is can or can't you run a z drive in any direction aslong as the prop is swapped hence they necro'd the thread and asked if they resolved the issue.
  9. have you checked the belt first in the past i had a fault where my instrument panel stopped working at all and it was because the belt was loose. do you have an voltmeter? if so set it to 20v dc and check battery voltages which engine is running. should be around 14.8v if i remember right. any less and you have a problem with the alternator or the wiring going to the alternator. so the next step would be check all the connections leading from the alternator.
  10. Sorry for not replying in so long but i have only just got to see my boaty today. Apparently my gearbox thought it was time for a second oil change of it own accord so maybe the oil i used was not to her taste. It starts and runs but it has aquired a knocking noise when in gear and i have noticed it has some movement sideways so im thinking this problem is caused by other 1 and it will be sorted by monday when the greese monkey has another look at it and takes it for a cruise. So ye squealing gearbox that stops your engine turning over is a sign it like fancy oil i think. Thanks for all your help in trying to diagnose my problem luckily it was a relitivly cheap fix to get the engine going again and hopefully just as cheap for gearbox movement.
  11. it takes a certain level of mental fortitude ( by that i mean have to be able to get dressed ) to pick a lock and lets be honest there addiction would make them a jittery mess and pushing a pin up would be neigh impossible.
  12. ye pretty much my 1st thought but i also thought " what are the chances the local smack head can pick a lock instead of hitting it with a hammer?" so its on my list of things i will be doing before my august holiday. i should also say its not my first lock i have picked but it is the 1st i have improvised a lockpick and succeeded
  13. i can confirm the fuel is definatly red diesel and that it came from a padlocked pump labeled "red diesel" on the pump as i have a habit of checking even with my petrol car that i am indeed putting petrol in and not diesel. when the engine started squealing i was heading towards a bridge and my first instinct was put it in neutral but by that time it was already dead. i dont think i have a manual stop switch tbh the only switches in the engine bay are the electric isolator and the fuel taps. and my engine bays is rather tidy and well layed out even if i do say so myself. p.s its a tad off topic but i am mildly proud of myself so here it is. Today i went to take my boat keys to the marina fella and i had to go pick some stuff off my boat before i handed the keys over and i locked my keys inside my boat... now as you can imagine with the weekend i was having i swore a WHOLE LOT! and after i calmed down i had a rational thought, I will pick my lock using.... A KEY RING LOOP and about 5 mins later i was in so now i will be carrying around a hand full of key ring loops on my keys that i will use as disposable lock picks just incase that nightmare ever happens again. i can only say that i will now be practicing the fine art of breaking and entering my own property from now on.
  14. i have talked to my marina today as he was the only one available who could look at it this month and he said he will have a look when he can. fingers crossed its just a mouse in the engine bay and he has bypassed the off switch.
  15. technodrive tmc60 is the gearbox make n model number and mine never had even a wisp of a bad noise or not engaging prior to this happening...
