  1. This is exactly what I wanted to find out so thanks Lanky. Johnson claim their pump is quieter but its a lot more expensive than the Gulper 220. Also have found a used Gulper on Ebay so will probably get that one.
  2. Thanks for the info Smiley Pete. Ive never heard of this so is good to know.I'll get one and give it a try Good point!!
  3. I’m looking for a diaphragm pump that is quieter than the Whale Gulper 220 According to the sales info the Johnson Viking 16 pump claims to be a quiet pump although it is quite a bit more expensive Has anyone had any experience of the Johnson pump compared to Whale pump?
  4. Thanks chaps for your speedy replies I think we could be on to something..... I disconnected and reconnected some connectors in the solar wiring. In the process one of the cables came out of connector, presumably was a loose fit. I’d been routing some cables for other equipment couple a days ago and think this may have dislodged the solar cable and this has initiated the problem. I’m now getting 50v showing at MPPT controller but a warning is showing up on Victron Color Control display saying “ #2Battery high voltage” and I have Bulk and Float lights flashing on controller
  5. Sudden failure of solar system I tested the voltage at the Victron MPPT unit and it only registered around 1.3 volts However when I disconnect the solar panel cables from the MPPT I get up,to 50 volts coming out of solar cables. Reconnect them and it drops down to not much more than 1 volt The suppliers have tested my MPPT unit on another panel and say it works fine. They even sent me another brand new controller to try but the fault remains. i' ve made sure to connect battery cables first before solar cables Does anyone have any ideas on what to try next?
  6. Do you have any more details on the air switch
  7. Thank you everybody for your contributions. I can see that the waste box with float switch is going to need ongoing maintenance so I will probably go with the diaphragm pump for greater reliability . The only thing which puts me off the Whale Gulper is the noise it makes. I'm looking at the Johnson Viking pump which is supposed to be much quieter. Has anyone had any experience of this model pump? http://www.spxflow.com/en/johnson-pump-marine/pd-marine-lavatory-systems-viking-power-16/
  8. Yes that's a possible solution to get the pump to run on - thanks
  9. Thanks for your response. I was also considering the Whale grey water 8 lt tank with water sensor fitted in lid to activate a Gulper pump. Where did you get your flow switches and also the timer circuit you mentioned? Here's the Whale grey water tank https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/8lt-Whale-Multi-port-Grey-Waste-Water-Storage-Tank-Boats-Caravans-Motorhomes/362100868840?epid=26009272235&hash=item544ee4c6e8:g:sZoAAOSwRH5XKdxS
  10. I would be interested in what experiences and recommendations people have with shower drain pumps I'm trying to decided whether to go for either a Rule or Attwood waste water sump box with integral bilge pump and float switch or a Whale Gulper pump with remote switch My preference would be the sump box rather than having to switch a pump on and off Just how reliable are the sump box systems?
  11. Thanks for your advice. the problem has been resolved now that I've adjusted the pump pressure Accumulator pressured correctly. it turned out to be pump pressure too low which I've now adjusted and all ok Thanks for tip. It was the pump pressure too low as having now adjusted it is now fine
  12. Yes accumulator is correctly pressurised Thanks for the tip. My pump is a Parmax 3 which I have now adjusted and it has resolved the problem
  13. I’ve just fitted some monobloc taps with flexible hoses I now find that the water pump is surging and the volume of water coming out of taps is low. suggesting that the pump cannot cope with the narrow diameter of the flexible hoses attached to the taps. The internal diameter of the flexible hoses is approximately 6 mm Has anyone else had any problems with this kind of tap?
