  1. In the past but I'm in Huntingdon now on the River Great Ouse on a widebeam so not likely to get there sgain. Whilst there's a pub directly opposite our mooring, it's a generic Greene King with OKish beer and appears on the Caskfinder app. The only pub within easy distance is the Wetherspoons. The Falcon with up to 15 real ales available doesn't appear. The King of The Belgium's which is GBG listed doesn't appear.
  2. Only assume that this area is some sort of black hole. Just tried Caskfinder and doesn't list half the pubs here that are Cask Marque. I'll stick to the Good Beer Guide for now.
  3. Just downloaded the Android version but pretty useless. Out of the 15 or so pubs in Huntingdon that sell real ale only one, Wetherspoons, is listed. Out of about 10 in St. Ives it only lists 2, one of which is a beer shop, not a pub.
  4. Environment Agency licence. And you will need EA Abloy key.
  5. Thanks, I well aware of the problems with the multiplug and had already suggested the owner look at them.
  6. Plus the electricity charge or included?
  7. But I would expect the alternator to self excite when revved and it doesn't. Domestic voltmeter shows definitely not charging. Pouring with rain here so will have to wait before I start looking.
  8. My neighbours Beta 75, about 17 years old with twin alternators, has stopped charging the domestic batteries. It has the C type control panel but with LEDs rather than normal warning lamps. The domestic LED doesn't illuminate either with ignition on or if engine running. It still doesn't charge if the engine speed is increased so I'm assuming an alternator fault. However before I start looking as it probably a rats nest of wiring how is the alternator charge circuit arranged?
  9. Here at Hartford Marina we have several floating 'lodges', some purpose built, some caravans on pontoons. 2 years ago they gave notice to one of the caravans. She had a Certificate of Lawful Occupation? which gave her residential status. She took them to court and won, the judge ruling that the regulations re caravan sites applied. The marina retaliated by increasing their mooring fees well above inflation.
  10. Does the actual marina not belong to the City Council or Urban Splash? If you are a member of NABO or RBOA they could possibly help. But does sound typical if a lot of marina management. According to their website they only have residential and visitor moorings.
  11. Having been up and down the 9 many times, first in 1981, it is definitely a unique experience with every lock offering something different.

When moved onto Great Ouse I asked EA to register the boat in both our names. They can't do that apparently but did enter Js name on the records as joint owner.
  13. Have spent many a time moored in the various mentioned spots in the past. How things have changed. I have expressed an opinion that Cambridge is least welcoming to boaters of our major cities. Looks like I might be wrong.
  14. We fit washing machine filters in our Hozelock connectors. They just replace the pre fitted washer.
  15. Mines like that now. As it's a trad stern the water can only come from rain blown through the engine air intakes which are about 1 1/2 metres from the stern. I taped over them last winter and bilges either side of the engine remained dry so will have to look at some permanent means of prevention.
  16. The one on the left is getting lifted out and going Cambridgep way. That one looks very much like the one craned here at Hartford a week or so ago and now moored up from us. Yet another boat that will never cruise other than over to the pumpout. If it is then entrance is directly off the main road so no escort required.
  17. We too had a Pat Buckle share boat with the same arrangement. The nice thing was that the front well deck was lower than normal making it easy to move between the cabin and well deck. Downside, as you said, was the crap drainage. The front drain would regularly block with leaves and the water build-up to the extent that it would come over the door threshold. A front cratch and cover would have sorted it but Ownerships always put the other owners off.

  19. It's much the same at our marina. I've complained to the office that having a dog on a long extended lead is just paying lip service to the instruction that all dogs must be on a lead.

  21. Our fat boat in Midnight Blue. I think it would look horrible without coach lines.
  22. When we had a share in Sundowner I think I was the only one who cleaned that cylinder of wire, the filter. Was always blocked with hair.
  23. One of these is good for pushing up the waste pipe from the outside. Do it with a tap running and you can see the muck coming out. Also useful for cleaning deck drains. https://www.diy.com/departments/120cm-long-flexible-radiator-cleaning-brush/5060507281079_BQ.prd?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAq4KuBhA6EiwArMAw1GAcIuTyYw3jKi_YvZ9-QZauKNoYyKnSW4GwdpZUoo6q23w47-pE-xoCqfsQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
  24. We pay by boat length of 60 ft. We were on a 60 ft finger but recently moved to the very end of the main pontoon, the 'hammerhead' which is 65 ft. Doesn't cost more.
