Hi all is it ok to put red x fuel cleaner/injection cleaner in the fuel tank in our narrow boat ? ,with the engine only doing 1,000 to 1,100 revs . thanks
Thanks for all your replies i think i we hire a dry dock for two weeks and do it my self and i have a small leak on my prop shaft seals so might do that while she is out of the water, and any other jobs , I will give the hull a rust treatment before then 3 coats of blacking and see how long that lasts
Hi all had my boat was blacked last year and needs doing again , they did a very poor job iam getting to old to do it my self and we don't live aboard just need somebody that can do a proper job , not a quick power wash and one coat, our boat is moored near Northwich in Cheshire so do not want to be sailing for days ps we love our boat and when we take her in for repair the only seem to do half a job just need a reliable boat yard thanks
Thanks for all your advice got m5 fit perfect had to re tap as the old bolts snapped off had mushroom vent off cleaned up re sealed no leaks now perfect
Just like to thank you all for all you help when i had a problems with two of my windows leaking and two mushroom vents now all sorted .Had the windows out and all clean up resealed and replaced in 3 hours .Bit more of a problem with the mushroom vents as all screws snapped off ,so drilled out the old brass thread what was left retapped new bolts resealed job done no more leaks. Just serviced engine and gearbox / gave her a good wash and polish boat not the wife Ha Ha . and off to Northwales next week
Hi all got a leak on one of my outside mushroom roof vents what size screws do i need please i know when i take the old ones out they will snap off,i have got the sealant just been waiting for some good weather. do i have to re-drill and re tap a thread, or just re-drill and use self tappers thanks dave What length will 25 or 30 mm do i need thanks , going to get M5 in brass
Hi all have i leak on one of my mushroom vent i have stopped the leak for now but want to do a proper job in spring , The screws in now are cross heads in brass very tight and will snap i think when i try to unscrew .Are they self tapping type or tapped and threaded and what is the counter sunk head size i will need to sit flush with the mushroom when screwed in if that makes sense . PS just thought i could go inside and pull the vent off and have a look but it would be nice to know the head size when i order new thanks Dave B
Hi all is it ok to leave my Webasto 5.2 heater on all over winter and set the radiators at 1 to stop my narrow boat from freezing up , we live away from the boat and it not always convent to run back and to to turn it off every morning and turn it back on at night. will it be safe i have a solar panel on the roof for the batteries to keep topped up and a tank full of fuel PS not sure how the timer works for the webasto only know how to turn it on and off thanks Dave and Jean

Hi all just joined your group, me and the wife have been boating for 10 years now and we are on or second boat . Just wounded if any one knows where i can get some window screws from, brass if possible as we have a leak on one of them i have stooped the leak with some sealant tape temporary until spring. PS i will take the widow out and reseal and all new screws i have looked on the net but no look Thanks Dave & Jean
