  1. Hi all we have just bought a new 12 volt fridge for our narrow boat ,as we have a 240 one running through a 3,000 watts inverter and going to fit it today ,the question is do I have to leave it when I have wired it up to settle or just turn it on straightaway thanks
  2. We had a generator built in on our first boat very noisy and uesd to vibrate never used it much think it was 4 kilowatts it was a peraydo or somting like that
  3. Think I will invest in one of those LED front lights or evern two
  4. Thank you like you said i thought it was a good idea but looks like its not, not done any drilling holes in the boat or fitted the wheels so just going to go a bit faster in the one way tunnels , the boat is a Liverpool boat ft 58 a we love her
  5. Sorry all tunnels a have problems with ,well not all small one are ok just the long ones
  6. I will give her a few more revs and see if that helps ,not going through any tunnels this year just going out for a weekend or to before winter sets in thanks for your help I learn something every day and been we have been boating for 8 years but didn't know a bit more speed might help
  7. yes that what a thought the cabin is more up right .thats Liverpool boats for you ,would have been better if the cabin walls were not so square they do come in but not enough thats why the corners touch the tunnel walls where the tunnel curves over
  8. Yes you all have good comments, the wheels are rubber and swivel 180 degrees , when we have gone through the tunnel the wheels can be reversed so the wheels will be on the inside the boat I will take a picture when I have fitted them and you will see what I mean , I think I do more damage to the inside of the tunnels when I am scraping along the tunnel and brick dust and bits of brick coming off
  9. Hi all when we go through canal tunnels I have a problem with catching the corners of our roof on the tunnel sides I have tried to keep away but the boat seams to want to go to the wall ,so I have bought 4 trolley wheels which iam going to fit to the sides of each corner of the boat so I should keep me away from the sides of the tunnel where it curves round ,the tunnel wall was ripping off our bunge clips ,and ripping our cratch cover on the corners , should work with a bit of look ps only £7 for 4 of eBay
  10. Just been to our boat and started engine up no squeals of slipping belts and charging at 14.7 volts I will keep an eye on it should be going out for a day or two soon before weather gets to bad
  11. Hi all a was just looking round the engine bay checking oil and and I thought I would check the alternator belts ,and both were very tight with no movement at all hardley ,so slacked them off a tutch now I can push on the belts and they give about 1ins is that about right ,as I have read that it can cause the bearings to fail if belts are to tight .
  12. empty all old blue or green antifreeze out, and fill with new red, don't mix blue or green with red antifreeze.
  13. I changed mine and put red antifreeze in mine it last for 5 years
  14. When we first got out boat the fuel tank had water and all sorts in the bottom 2 ins of the tank ,so i when to B&Q and got a wet & dry vac put a extension on it undid the fuel filler out so it just left a big hole and sucked all the gunge out 4 years later and still ok
  15. My new header cap came and its a proper Isuzu one but when i looked at the pressure it was twice the pressure than the old one i took off thats fixed it ,now i have just fitted a water temp gauge to day and that works fine to only left engine running for about 10 mins and it got to 60 when out on the cut it should get to 75 to 80
  16. All all just need a bit of advice please a am going to change the bulbs on our boat from Halogen to Led but do not know what power to buy they do 1watt 2 3 5 6 10 and 20 ,the ones a have in now are 20 watts Halogen and use a bit to much power from the battery's when we our out on the Cut thanks
  17. Boat out of water for blacking first coat missing her already
  18. thanks lads i will have a look tomorrow
  19. when i start the engine all lights go off but buzzer stops on but not as loud as with on engine not running i will have a look again tomorrow ,boat coming out for blacking Tuesday so i will let them sort it
  20. Hi having a bit of a problem engine buzzer warning will not go off when i start the engine all lights go off on control panel oil/ alternator/ ect but buzzer stops on any ideas
  21. Hi all been doing a bit more at are boat had her for four years now and the only temp warning was a light and a buzzer ,and not really happy with it so fitted a temp gauge today looks nice started engine up after fitting and wiring it up ,ran her for 15 mins and the gauge went 60 degrees normal is 75 to 80 so should get hotter when we get out running proper on the canal ,sorry for going on a bit but just thought i would tell you all just a bit of a blog
  22. Think i will go for Bituman this time and think about twin pack when the bank balance looks better
  23. Thanks all for your comments i rang the chap who is going to do the job and he said he will pull her out go all over with a three something grinder and tell me witch is best to put on the boat
  24. i know twin pack lasts longer up to 8/10 years but is it worth it or just go for Bitumen every two years as our 58 ft narrow boat is coming out this mouth
