  1. Yes I think that's a wise move I just spoke to someone recently on the cut who leaves his on when he's away for a week and wondered how common that is . I don't think I'd sleep at night Hey I want my boat at the bottom of my garden !!
  2. But bearing in mind I don't live on my boat and only return to it every third day , Does anyone go home and leave stove on while away ??
  3. Yes I'm sure it will work fine on boat maybe just a different setting. It seems best to just set them and leave them then . Would you or anyone else go away and leave them on overnight ?
  4. UPDATE Firstly thanks to all for your inputs For any future people needing help here are my findings. MY ISSUES How do I light Why is flame yellow My findings via this thread CLEANING Clean and decoke every thing paying special attention to burner holes LIGHTING Set regulator to number two Bleed a small amount of fuel through add either a capful of meths or a small cube of fire lighter and ignite. Hold in plunger for a further minute I found that the higher you have it set the more yellow the flame and when adjusting don't got too far at once maybe just 1\4 stops and wait 15 mins for effect .(patience) Mine runs best on 1 1\4 Also worth noting I was bench testing mine outside in sunlight ( maybe having more draft caused a few issues) I think it would draw different inside the boat when fitted ? Certainly the bright light made the flames appear yellower Anyway I now have a lovely blue flame and what a cracking little stove the old Dutch is Thanks again all

  9. Tony hi I haven't yet found a shire with the same housing. My problem is that after much research I'm realising mine isn't plumbed correctly What I really need to know is what taps / outlets run to where ? My two red taps currently feed and return from calorifier and im sure the return should go back to pump side Many thanks

  11. Like I said try and find the B2 options and turn off B2-06 setting (waveform check) which is on by default, as a start. Thanks everyone for your time Its best to ask before blowing anything i value your inputs ill get B2 06 terminated
  12. yes it charges batteries . It also controls my solar panels , and Ship to shore AC I know it used to accept waveform with a honda ex650 because that was used by previous owner So do i need a Sine wave genny ? or can i alter the settings like thumper said?

  14. im plugging into the shore socket that the previous owner hooked into on the mains for two years 240v no problems The inverter is not goosed and works fine ..?
  15. No lights in the tunnel but your boat should have, I put my interior lights on too and through the windows they light the tunnel wall
  16. Hi all i have an ssl powermaster 3000 and when i connect my gen to the ssl The AC input light blinks and it wont accept the gen My gen is a 3000w frame type gen and not pure sine wave is that the problem ???

Firstly thanks to everyone for all the suggestions . when i get away from the rat race and back to boat tomorrow im going to create a list and go through the elimination process The diagram should prove helpful ill post my results when i return many thanks again Mick where did you add the valves?? i meant to say I have a barrus shanks 40 not the shire i presume its the same???

  19. Thanks everyone for replying I'm putting together a list to try and when Its,solved I'll update the results to future use. However if anyone has more ideas please keep posting Im going to call barrus and see what they say too
  20. Yes I'm starting to think instalation maybe. The thermostat housing kinda splits into sections and I wonder what configuration they could be placed. I know the two thermostats operate at different temperatures and when we replaced we puy it all back as it was ,,, but was it correct in the first place . If anyone has a shanks engine a picture of the thermostat housing would be really helpful
  21. Good question Since I purchased the boat I've never had it work properly. The guy I got it from was plugged into shore so always had hot water from immersion . When I sailed off in it it was the first time it'd been unplugged and it's never been scalding even after hrs of cruising. It has a digital temp gauge and I can watch it hit the 40s and then drop back to the 40s while I'm going along . Thanks for your time
  22. Thanks for that and I will try that when I return on Sunday . I will then connect exit side first and bleed return side before I connect it . If I find no blockages both ways . Then I'm thinking my problem must be involving the thermostat set up ,unless we can think of anything else???? Thanks all for the suggestions together we will get hot water . Julian
