  1. You can have the best of both worlds if you buy a pump out kit , we have one though not used it yet as only just moving on but people I know who have say they are easy to use . Basically lets you pump out into an elsan for free with a hand pump . Paid £100 for ours but that was second hand . would soon pay for itself and the added flexibility of not needing to find a marina with a pump out whilst cruising
  2. here http://elitefurnishings.co.uk/ very good service and quality furniture , makes to order and also does re upholstering . We recently ordered from him very nice guy .
  3. had a very similar experience , sent several emails and phone calls trying to find out whether 2 boats we were interested in were still available . Got nothing back initially and then when phoned was told it was a sellers market and we had better just take our chance and have deep pockets . We passed and bought another boat locally which happened to be perfect right time right place right price . Thought nothing more of said broker until today 4 weeks after when they emailed me asking if we were still interested in buying a boat from them lol .. said we had bought one thank you very much and got an email back all huffy and disappointed sounding .. Could a sellers market have turned to a winter buyers market I wonder . Being a sales director myself I really don't like fair weather customer service / sales people I wont name but I will name ABNB where we were treated really well even though we didn't end up getting a boat from them .. Top notch broker IMO
  4. I am told that many fish to get away from a nagging wife so quite why they are miserable sitting in glorious surroundings with several grand's worth of fishing gear nag free is beyond me . I have never seen a happy one indeed most are pretty rude .. Not quite sure what the point of it all is but hey ho each to their own . I am sure there are happy ones just never met one . Nothing personal
  5. this ! I had an SR3 on our last boat and they are excellent engines robust and simple so pretty easy to service esp as no complex water cooling , Honestly your granny could do it but it does take time and if you not Mechanically minded maybe not the route to take for you . Again unfortunately the guy I would recommend wont go that far up but hopefully someone can recommend or we can talk you through it
  6. yeah we have ordered 2 of the arm chairs , a foot box and the tray box ( ideal for putting my beer on while watching telly

  10. well we went to Elites workshop on Sat ( he does make his own ) and we were very impressed and ended up ordering . Quality and design ( lots of storage as well as comfort and bespoke features made to your specification ) Yes more expensive than off the shelf but worth it I think to get exactly what you want and loads of choice of material and colour combinations ( Mrs Rufus had a field day ) add this to the fact the guy was very very helpful and friendly and will even drive down and fit the furniture in situ on the boat made for an excellent and recommendable experience . thanks everyone for the help
  11. thanks Phil , sounds like they will be what we go for if we like the designs etc yes they are a bit far to go on the off chance so will see how we get on With Elite first
  12. Great thats good to hear , Storage is what we are after as well as comfort . We have of course brutally downsized( cannot believe how much guff we have accumulated in the house ) but every nook and cranny is useful and Mrs is a bit ocd regards storage ( soo many boats rejected due to lack of it ) thanks for the quick reply thanks Alan will take a look thanks Ken , they were on my list but too far for this Sat but maybe can make it up next Sat if they are open . looking for a new cratch cover in the new year as well so maybe two birds one stone
  13. Hi All first post -- After holidaying on the Canals for 35 years and last owning a boat for that purpose 10 years ago( had to sell to start business ) earlier this year we took the huge decision to sell up and move afloat full time for the first time . House is sold and boat and mooring secured . Bit surreal cant believe it is finally happening , truly excited and nervous in equal amounts . We move aboard in about 4 weeks and need to order 2 new narrowboat sized Saloon chairs and a footstool ( as there are non presently aboard ) as such off to see these guys tomorrow http://elitefurnishings.co.uk/contact.html But wondered if anyone knew of any others within striking distance of Aylesbury that we should be looking at and anyone any experience of Elite ( website looks good and professional but dont know anyone who has used them ) Sorry if first post is a bit boring but I am sure many more to come many thanks Simon
