  1. Thanks the tins not handy at the moment but I did just read online about the drying times.
  2. I’ve derusted, de greased and rust treated. I’m going to use Danboline bilge paint. Silly question do you give it light rub down between coats or wait for it to dry and whack another coat on. Thanks.
  3. I’m going to have another go at painting my engine bay. Last time I don’t think I did enough preparation and de rusting. I’ve got some damboline bilge paint. Im going to de rust and clean and have some vatacn rust treatment when I’m done. what’s the best undercoat if needed to use with danboline?
  4. Sorry it’s the comer of the window I think it’s leaked in the past. the holes are panel pins and bottom strip in where the gunwale is.
  5. What do people use/ recommend to remove white marks from wood where water have stained it.
  6. Sorry to bring up this old thread but does anyone find out who owns the mooring at the castle? nr parked bridge.
  7. We are on the Sharpness gloucester Canal. The router works fine it’s a TP link one, when it’s switched on I have a outdoor solwise omni direction aerial fitted. It’s when I’m just using my phone on Three. The wife is on EE and she rarely drops signal. ?? Thanks that’s great. I’ll look into it and get one on order. The cigarette plug will be cut off and wired into a on off switch in the cupboard. All fused.
  8. Thanks Alan I’m looking for a 12v regulated supply but only seem to find the wall plug type ones. have you got a link to any? Plus I seem to loose my 3 g where I am a lot And they want to push the 5g when there are places that don’t get much 3/4 g ? Thanks Simon.
  9. The power supply is on the 12v circuit off the fuse board. It Was where the satellite dish was once plugged into at the front of the boat.
  10. I’ve been using my router on the boat plugged into the 240v socket, it’s a 12v 1 amp supply. Seems daft to turn the inverter On while out. i do have a wired 12v supply near it. I know it’s a daft question but is it just a case of getting the correct end socket And inline fuse and wiring it to the 12v supply.
  11. I re did mine again last year after doing it for the first time a few years before that. The first time was a horrible dirty job getting all the muck up, second time was a breeze didn't take much to do it. I got the bituman paint from the marina, wore old overalls, long marigold gloves taped up, shoe protectors and a shoe protector fitted over my hair (I've got short hair), and wore a proper breathing mask with filters in which helped with the smell. I used a combination of brush and roller several coats leaving a few days between each coat and because we don't live on the boat I left it for a few weeks to cure. Gave it a good rinse out before I re filled it again. I will probably do it again in the next few years while its easy to do.
  12. I don't know who the son is doing it with but since he has been home from Uni Mid March his PC has been whirring away doing something similar. I dont really understand it, Im just paying for the electric ?
  13. My beta used to chirp at me A bit. I found out It was the Thin cable on the alternator was breaking. Over a certain revs stopped.
  14. If you get any problems give Pete Evans a try unless that's who you are using? He is based at Gloucester Narrowboats, The Black Shed, Slimbridge. Just down the road.
  15. Thanks Tony. Could be. Funny enough I checked the inspection hatch under the bed a few weeks ago and it was bone dry. But will check again next time we are there. ive got pots and cloths out to catch trace water while we are not there. won’t be back for a few weeks. it could be like a leak we have on our roof at hone only happen occasionally when the wind blows in a certain direction but we have never found it.
  16. The screws go from inside the boat. The windows have a bracket on the inside as you screw them in it pulls the frame to the side of the boat. Looked at that. It’s quite dry. Seems just condensation damp. But I’ve put some paper towel up there between the roof and insulation. When we come back in a few weeks if that’s soaking then could be it. that’s if we have any more rain ?
  17. That’s what I’m thinking leek somewhere else. the wood is quite wet now.
  18. Thanks Tony. just looked at the photo again and it looks misleading those drips are condensation we stayed on the boat last night. Typical I took the wood frame out yesterday to watch when it rained and it didn’t leak. It’s just the wood bit where the frame screws too got wet if that makes sense. But yes I think when it’s better weather the window needs coming out cleaning and resealing.
  19. I have two windows that appear to leak. It seems Depending which way the wind blows. Ive removed the inner wooden frame but the wood seems wet on top of the wood see pic. some of the screws around the window was loose. How tight should they be. Tight as you can get it or just till it bites. The rear windows leaks more than the one at the front of the boat.
  20. Window blinds tapping in the wind. Mines does if I got the window open a bit.

    WiFi

My phone has a 3 sim unlimited data, calls etc £22 a month which works. then when we don’t want heavy usage we have a payg SIM card. I know 3 allows tethering. but one month I did get through 190gb on the phone sim and nothing was said by 3.

    WiFi

Ive got a 4G external aerial with a 4G router in the boat. Then everything connects via wifi to it. When we go there I usually put my 3 sim (unlimited data) in it out of my phone or when we are there for a day or night we just use a prepaid sim card think I've got a 40gb one that last for 2 years.
  23. We had a funny larger type smell in ours when we got it. No matter what we tried it wouldn't go. So i replaced all of the rubber pipe work and smell no more. Apparently where I got it from the man said they need replacing after 5/6 years as they start to perish and crack up on the inside, wasn't until I got mine off you noticed how bad it was.
