  1. As a child I used to pray every night for a new bicycle. Then, after a long time, I discovered how God worked. So I stole one and then went to confession!!!" John
  2. Hi, Last June we managed Market Drayton to LLangolen and return in a week with lots of long days cruising. However the summer days were long we thouroughly enjoyed our trip. No great delays but.....try to be at Grindley Brook (going either way) at crack of dawn and have the place to yourself. For the LLangollen narrows try to have two way radio or mobile phone communication for those sent ahead just to let your crew know the situation. Regards John

  13. Hi, The facilities at Hurleston are at the top lock, there is nothing at the bottom lock, except a queue of boats normally! The facilities at Barbridge are on the Shroppie main line just before the Middlewicjh Junction. Regards John
  14. There is also one here... http://www.challengershare.com/hire/66supertug.htm John
  15. We solved the problem of Llangollen one way working by using a two mobile phones, one on the boat and one with the person that went ahead (have also seen cheap 2 way radios used). When the person on foot (yes we walked, it's not all that far, no need for a bike!!) reached the other end they just stopped any boat proceeding by telling them our boat was already on en route through the narrows, with the prospect of them having to reverse it had the desired effect. We then phoned back to the boat (out of earshot), and told them to proceed, bit naughty but it worked. We did have some issues with grounding but mainly on the main line stretch between Ellesmere and Chirk but only where there was bank erosion and the true edge of the canal was unclear. Did not cause great concern though. John and Anne
