  1. Although with no fridge or TV to drain them, the need for battery power will be lower than on many boats.
  2. It's certainly cute. No fridge or space for one, and nearly all the storage space is in lockers.
  3. Yes, of course, but the information therein will be more useful when updated.
  4. Can you please tell the forum when the database has been updated.
  5. These payments are intended for 'households' that have not already received some money. So it depends if you have 'bricks and mortar' where you pay fuel bills.
  6. I think CRT use volunteers for tunnel bookings. Overall it's important to encourage fat boat owners to book their tunnel transit. This makes it more difficult to charge a booking fee or limit transits to, say, one per day. It used to be Fridays only, I don't know what happened to that. Half a dozen on the same day seems a bit excessive. On the other hand, having nine narrow boats delayed is not great for the majority population. It seems we narrowboaters have to give way to everyone else these days.
  7. Try Ryan, Jules Fuels, for Braunston area.
  8. You can still paint the topsides in a drained dry dock. A dryer environment may be helpful. Perhaps you thought a wet dock would cost less?

  10. I had more problems with my brand new boat than I did with one of my second hand purchases.
  11. OK so that was your experience with your boat, Cuthound. For my boat, it would still suit better to go in forwards. However, we have never/not yet used the mooring basin at Llangollen as we prefer the canalside alternative.
  12. I do know of a boat that was damaged due to not having a light on the front and bumped by another boat. My own experience was meeting a tug with a light pushing a full length flat with no light that I didn't see. Fortunately the tug driver shouted and I took evasive action (moved over). Subsequent conversation in the pub suggested that I should look down at the water from time to time but I'd been taught to steer in tunnels by watching the illuminated roof.
  13. In my experience, it is vital to have a light on the front of the boat in wide tunnels to ensure that any boats coming towards you can tell where the front of your boat is.
  14. Mine just has bolts on the inside and the main access to the boat is through the front doors which have a keyed lock.
  15. Not at all. My marina refuses to fill jerry cans and insists that all diesel dispense is into boats. You are likely to find some variation on duty declaration arrangements.
  16. That might be a more sensible solution and you could perhaps sell the existing tiller. I think we just push our tiller over out of the way when required.

  18. However, if during that 11 months with a licence but no current BSS, an insurance claim becomes necessary. If the claim was due to something a BSS would have picked up, then it may not be paid. Indeed some insurers may require a valid BSS at all times.
  19. Well I'm still waiting to find out what the 'certain conditions', to which the funding package is subject, are.
  20. Also the government seem to think that the RYA represents inland boaters.
  21. We would sometimes find the Tourist Information Office in the town and ask there for launderette locations.
