  1. The Pram Cover looks really very smart and glad it was worth the wait! I am definitely going for a Kinver so it's a relief to know that it has turned out well despite the long time in getting it!
  2. I just found this actually... http://www.hemeltoday.co.uk/news/boaters-shaken-up-after-narrowboat-sinks-in-lock-1-7350276
  3. I saw that boat yesterday but did not see the owners so thank goodness for that and thanks for the info. I heard they are live a boards as well I hope the damage is not to massive.
  4. Good Outcome https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/enjoy-the-waterways/boating/mooring-your-boat/south-east-visitor-moorings/south-east-visitor-mooring-consultation-january/february-2016
  5. I am going to go for a Nabru sofa as well for my boat. It seems reading this forum that lots of people have them and are very happy with them. I just got samples sent to me and due to 3 cats will have to go for texture that isn't too bad with fur sticking to. I would be interested to see what you think of the narrow armchair if you do go a head with getting one Adam. I don't need mine until August, so don't need to make final decisions just yet.
  6. The problems being put forward (long running generators, diesel fumes etc) do not exist and as has already been said, the proposed stretch of the canal that is subject to 2 days maximum are not near any housing at all! Further to this, whilst there are occasional boats moored up for two weeks along this stretch that you do wander how they are still floating such is the state of them, they are few and far between. I have never seen the tow path be abused by boaters regardless of the state of their boat either. The majority of boats look great and add character to the canal. The Berko community facebook group is puzzled by this action. I hope that the political bigwigs of the council and also the trust do not succeed (if this is their intention no matter what) to change the rules as they will kill off what is a lovely part of the canal system.
  7. I personally am very upset about this, I live near here and spend loads of time on this particular stretch of the Canal and the boats make the place. However it seems by the comments in the Berkhamstead FB Group that no one knows why officials are making boats an issue and who could of complained saying they are a "nuisance" Hopefully the consultation will not receive support to stop boats mooring up for more than 2 days. http://www.berkhamstedcitizens.org.uk/latest-news/
  8. Ha! the difference between a dry cat and a wet cat is quite significant! I have three cats and they will all be moving on board with me later this year. I am also in anxious anticipation about how that will go, they will have a cat flap because they are used to a cat flap and because I cannot be door master to three cats wanting to go in and out all different times. All these tips are very useful and I am making notes!
  9. The hull is being supplied ;by JD Narrowboats. I have visited them and the main pictures of the completed boat "Hill's On Water" I saw and it was as lovely in the flesh as it is in the pictures. That Boat has been built for a holiday boat as opposed to a livaboard as well.
  10. I am having a 64ft cruiser stern built. I would like to cruise but work and other commitments say "no" to me at the moment, so I will be in a Marina for a good while. However I am having the boat built taking into consideration a possible Linear Mooring and some serious boating in the future.
  11. The link I provided are whose building my boat. I just put that on here as they advertised on AD today for slots starting in April 16. Glad you are not rushing though, its a complete minefield but a great help having forums such as this to trawl through in the learning process. I haven't posted here before today, I have just read as much as I can to get an idea and come to my own conclusions.
  12. Hi snappyfish I am currently in the same situation after spending a year researching (including following this forum for loads of info) and have finally taken a plunge and opted for a new build. I was very open to a second hand boat but after seeing 10 during the summer that were nothing like their pictures I went to see these people a while ago. I expect it all depends on how quick you want to get on the water, I won't get my boat until next summer but I have decided what is worth having is worth waiting for! http://narrowboats.apolloduck.co.uk/feature.phtml?id=374136 Its worth adding to your list of options to check out anyway.
