  1. I had the same issue and found that you can move some apps to the sd card via settings/apps. You have to open each app using the settings gear wheel on the main screen and then select storage to see if it is possible. Click on change if that button is available and select sd card to move the app. Some can’t be moved. Files can be moved by opening files and selecting docs/images etc. Press and hold (don’t open) a file from the list then touch the vertical ... which will give an option to move the file to the sd card. Ive used the ES File Explorer app to move things around too. H

  4. Wow, thanks for the positive feedback. I was one of the lockies on today and we started with a queue waiting for us when we unlocked a little before 10am. Three boats arrived between 3 and 3.20 and we got all through by 4 and were pleased to help even after being out in the rain all day. ETA: 25 boats through in total today
  5. Opening times for canal are 8am to 6pm. [last entry on the flight 5.15pm] From Date: 13th August 2018 To Date:until further notice Type:Navigation Restriction Reason:Water resources Notice updates:03/08/2018 @ 17:34 Due to exceptionally dry weather during the last three months some of our canal feeding reservoirs are lower than we would normally expect for this time of year. The recent rainfall has not significantly changed this situation. As the dry weather is set to continue into the autumn, we are taking steps now to reduce water usage by closing the canal overnight. This will allow back-pumps to circulate water more effectively around the canal network. We will monitor the situation and update the website accordingly. Opening times for canal are 8am to 6pm. 7. I work as a VLK at Watford and over the last 2 years, when the flight hasn't been locked overnight, I'm not aware of any significant issues arising 'out of hours'. One of the main tasks of the VLKs at both Watford and Foxton during the busy times is to manage the flow of boats up and down so that waiting is fair and kept at a minimum. This generally works well and, at the height of the summer, by the time my shift ends at 6.30 ish the queue at Watford, at least, is down to a couple of boats and that is manageable by those waiting. I guess time will tell if the same works at Foxton. There are instructions on how to use the Watford staircase written on the balance beams and at the start of the flight but unsurprisingly not many boaters seem to notice that the instructions are there or take time to read them. ETA: I've not heard that Foxton has/will be going 24hour either so have only seen the notice posted above.

  18. From Northampton Chronicle & Echo Food, a TV and other items were stolen after a boat was broken into on the Grand Union Canal. The narrow boat was moored outside the Heart of England pub in Weedon when it was broken into between 2pm on Saturday February 27, and Saturday March 5. Offenders appear to have cut through a padlock and forced a door open at the side of the boat to gain entry. Along with food, electrical items including a TV and a radio were taken. Anybody who has seen any suspicious activity in the area over recent weeks is asked to contact police. Witnesses, or anyone with any information, are asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101. Alternatively, they can call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 55511 Link to article

  20. This report about the replacement of the lock gates was on Anglia News last night (Wednesday) http://www.itv.com/news/anglia/2015-11-25/work-underways-to-repair-locks-along-northamptonshire-canal/
  21. I think you need the "BBC iPlayer radio" app which is free from the Apple store or Play store for Android users. I use the android iPlayer radio app on my tablet and there is a clear download icon once you have found the programme.
  22. You're welcome ☺ Luckily I have fact on my side and not popular, or is that unpopular, opinion as is sometimes the case with Mr Boycott in his role as a commentator.
  23. Maybe so but I am correct. An appendix to EU Directive 71 /316/EEC details the e mark. If the mark ever had a word (unofficially) attached to it then it would have been in French, the official language of the EEC. In my 30+ year career of dealing with legal metrology the "e" has never been known as anything other than "the e mark".
  24. The e doesn't stand for a word as it is an EU character recognised throughout the EU. Packaged goods labelled with the ‘℮’ mark are declaring their compliance with the requirements of the ‘average system’ under Directive 76/211/EEC and are not subject to further weights and measures regulation. It is an optional choice for the packer whether to display the ‘℮’ mark. Packages which do not display the ‘℮’ mark and are to be traded outside the UK must meet the regulations set by the destination country. The ‘℮’ mark is a metrological passport to trade allowing free access within the EEAand its respective markets. The metric foot was used in the trade who were trying to assist builders, chippies etc. when the UK moved from selling in imperial to metric units. It has never had an official status
