[quote name=
-And watts is a measure of POWER ' date=' not energy!! (ie a watt is a joule per second)
[/quote]
Hi dhutch I bow to your knowledge that watts equal power and that is what
the electricity company charges me for Kw/hrs. Therefore the power used by the
refridgerater in 6.3hrs is 630watts. this eqates roughly to 0.42amps for 6.3hrs
this then equals 2.6amp/hrs.
Or am I all charged up over nothing
-
It is logical you will use approx 630watts per day; i.e. the fridge will run for 6.3hrs
per 24hrs. BUT this will also depend on the number of times the door is opened
and the ambient temperature of the suroundings. The guide consmption I think is
probably worked out in ideal conditions. They are a good guide though.
Stay cool

Hi
I work for one of the emergency services and we do not have GPS location system
we work with the Ordnance Survey system. We do have a sat nav system in our
vehicles but this is only used to find unknown house adresses. If given a grid
reference all is well but GPS location is a waste of time.
Just for info if you use a bt landline we can spot you exactly before answering the
phone, So just find a 'phone box

I agree with you, your example of necessary experience was the one I was going
to use but when you see parents and children together and all you hear
is "don't do that", children need a reason and calm explanation. I do not blame the
children it is the parentsin the wrong, perhaps it is they that need the lessons in
child care.

Children do not understand DANGER it is a concept and needs to be taught,
for instance to say to a child "Don't touch that", does not convey anything. To say,
"Don't touch that because ....................." and give a good explanation that the
child can understand and comprehend is much better. We all make mistakes and
do something dangerous without thinking and we are "adults". The whole idea of
life and boating is to be fun, bring children up to be safe and HAPPY.

Just to throw a spanner in the works does DERV stand for Diesel Engined
Road Vehicle. So this was used to name the fuel. I think the Americans (sorry) use
the term Gas Oil for there truck fuel.

Hi
I wish you luck. I have not done the trip but Two years ago while on a cruise
aboard "the Waverley" (a ship). We were on a cruise from sharpness down the
river. We observed a narrow boat making the passage with a pilot on board, I
believe this is compulsory and has to be booked well in advance.
The narrow boat looked very small on that large river. The strength of the tide has
to be seen to be believed. The Waverley had problems mooring at Sharpness, on
the river, with the flow being so strong.
A safe journey and let us know how it was for you.

HI
Surely a boat diesel engine is the same as a car diesel engine.
When I start my car, have not got a boat yet, the heater plugs are used then turn
the key to start, not touching the throttle.
There is, I think an automatic fuel control valve i.e. the govener.
Of course this only apply to "modern" engines.

Hi
as per my last post.
The tanks would be plumbed in paralel. The coils plumbed in series.
If you have "balance pipes" the tanks will act as one. Normal convection will equalise the temperature.
I must make one adjustment to my previous only take hot water from tank two.
The tanks will require two "balance pipes" one at high level one at low level.
Bleed valves would enable the removal of air if necessary.
-
Anything is possible, but you will need "balance" pipes to avoid airlocks in the tanks.
i.e. cold supply to one tank then from that tank to tank 2. So that tank 2 is supplied from tank 1.
Hot water take off from both tanks to a tee piece and then onto taps. this way you would only need to connect to one coil (inside tank) but as suggested before the two in series would be better. Heating the water to temperature of course would take longer.
Be careful of deep water in the bath we would not want you to drown.
-
The only way to solve this dilemma is for some one to obtain samples of both
fuels and have them analysed in a laboratory.
Maybe its not the fuel at fault but the red dye.

I feel sorry for the children but there are always two sides to a "story" and until
we get the FULL facts from both sides we cannot become involved with either side.
The only advice I would give to the Shaloms is try for Independant arbitration.
I do not accuse the Shaloms of this but my daughter
was at the local college and
on her course was a "professional student" aged 45 that was proud of not
ever having a job because she could always find another course to do.

p.s. I do wish the Shaloms a better life especially the children.
